Description
Over 100 years old, our traditional Cornish cottage is bright, cosy and very comfortable. It is in a quiet location within 5 minutes drive from the coastal path and the pretty port of Porthleven, as well as some of the best beaches in the UK. It is our family holiday home, let for only a few weeks of the year, and there is ample space for 6 people. The house is very well equipped throughout and, as we spend a lot of time here with our grandchildren, it is very child-friendly. The space The cottage is our family's home from home and we only let it out for a few weeks of the year to selected guests. Our open-plan kitchen-diner has the original inglenook fireplace and a dining table which seats 6. The kitchen is very well-equipped with cooker, fridge, dishwasher, microwave and Nespresso machine and has all you need to cook meals during your stay. There is also washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer in the garage. There are detergents, extra toilet rolls and kitchen rolls there too. In the sitting room, you'll find comfortable seating for 6 and a smart TV. We also have a superfast fibre broadband connection. Up the stairs from the kitchen are bedrooms, 2 with double beds, 1 with 2 single beds, all having extremely comfortable mattresses, soft duvets and beautiful White Company linens. There are views towards Porthleven and Predannack headland from both front bedrooms. Bedroom 3 has a sloping ceiling and a velux window in the ceiling with a blackout blind. There is also a Mamas and Papas travel cot with extra mattress, sheets, quilt and cover, stair gates, high chair, toddler step and nightlights for our smaller guests. The bathroom is large and warm with a bath and efficient electric shower. Hot water is available all day. There is a small garden with lawn and a bench at the front of the cottage and a sunny and enclosed private garden with patio at the rear which looks on to fields, ideal for relaxing at the end of the day. There is a large table and chairs with parasol if you want to enjoy a meal outside - or just a quiet drink. There is a short driveway for a small car, but there is plenty of room to park a few yards down the road in the lay-by. We provide beach towels and a beach box with body boards, beach bags, mats and buckets and spades for the children, so you're all set! Porthleven, a beautiful working fishing village with its small independent shops, pubs, coffee shops and excellent places to eat, including Rick Stein's restaurant, is only five minutes away. The long, sandy beach at Praa sands is patrolled by RNLI lifeguards and is perfect for surfing, building sandcastles and swimming; 15 minutes further along the coast is the famous St Michael's Mount, and beyond that, Penzance with its historic harbour. Just the other side of Penzance is Newlyn, with its famous art gallery. St Ives, to the north, also has the Tate gallery and many quirky shops around its beautiful harbour. The beach at Kynance, on the Lizard Peninsula, was recently voted one of the best beaches in the world. One of our favourite walks near the cottage is Rinsey with its restored tin mine engine house. Both Lizard Point and Land's End are within easy driving distance from the cottage. The coastal path which stretches right around the rugged coastline, can be accessed from almost anywhere in this area, so each day can be a new adventure. Guest access The whole house and everything in it! Other things to note As this is a traditional Cornish cottage, ceilings are quite low downstairs, so mind your head!
