This Todmorden cottage has a delightful sitting room with a warm and cosy gas stove and a large diner kitchen with original Yorkshire stone flooring, making these rooms an ideal place to eat and relax after a hard day's walking. The double and twin bedrooms enjoy wonderful views across the valley and out to the surrounding moorland. The property is in a slightly elevated, south facing position enjoying wonderful views yet located within 10 minutes walk from Todmorden town centre, nestled in the Upper Calder Valley, ideally suited to explore the best of both Yorkshire and Lancashire. Great base for larger cities such as Manchester (~30min) and Leeds (~45min) due to frequent rail services. A fantastic retreat and base for work, walking, cycling, golfing, horse riding or just relaxing! The town of Todmorden, home to Incredible Edible, the Lucky Dog and was also recently featured in BBC 1's Countryfile. Todmorden offers a thriving indoor and outdoor market, shops, pubs and cafes. Enjoy walks from the doorstep across the Bronte's beloved Moors, visit the village of Heptonstall with its two historic pubs, or explore the home of the Bronte sisters in nearby Haworth. There are many fantastic walks, cycle routes and horse rides close to this Todmorden cottage, from a walk to the impressive Stoodley Pike, built to commemorate the end of the Napoleonic Wars, or a gentle amble to Orchan Rocks, Whirlaw Rocks, Bride Stones, Britain's highest beach Gaddings Dam or along the canal towpath to the town of Hebden Bridge which is five miles away and boasts interesting nightlife, curiosity shops, and the old cinema where they serve tea and scones at the interval! Additionally, the Calderdale Way, Pennine Way and Mary Towneley Loop pass through or are very close to Todmorden. The cottage is located ideally to explore both Yorkshire and Lancashire. This welcoming cottage is ideal for families and friends, and can be enjoyed any time of year. Guest access Rental is for the whole holiday cottage which is fully furnished and comes with bed linen, towels, basic cooking ingredients (salt, pepper, spices), tea, coffee and cleaning products. A welcome pack is available on arrival containing essentials such as bread, milk and butter so don't be afraid to turn up empty handed! Other things to note We have lovingly restored the cottage so please respect it. Please remove shoes at the door. On stays of more than one week we will pop in to conduct a quick clean at a convenient time. *** Upcoming Local Events: 2 - 4th May Todmorden Folk Festival: music, singing, dancing and folky family fun in the heart of the Calderdale valley. Todmorden Carnival - 24th May: this year marking 72 years since the carnival was restarted in 1953. A day out providing fun and entertainment for all the family! The theme for this year’s Carnival is ‘The History of Public Services ’. The parade starts from Sanworth Street at 12.30pm, making its way to Centre Vale Park.
