Description

Delightful converted barn, full of original features, character and charm. Sleeps 6. Secluded rural setting near fabulous Crackington beach 6 min drive. Superb location 3 mins from coast path, rugged cliffs, ancient woodland and farmland. Sensational walks from your doorstep. Family run for over 48 yrs. Guests return year after year. The location is exquisitely nestled in nature - birdsong, star filled skies, peace and tranquility - the perfect place to unwind, relax and explore the local area. The space Abel's is a wonderful cottage full of original features and is comfortable and cosy. It has high wood beamed ceilings and retains some stone walls and slate floors - typical of a Cornish dwelling. Downstairs is a comfortable king-sized double bed and a twin bedroom with two single beds and upstairs a bedroom with a double bed tucked under the old wooden beams. The bathroom with shower and bath are also located downstairs. The large slate floored, well-equipped kitchen and living space is open plan and spacious with a large dining table for memorable shared meals. It has central heating and a great wood burner - cosy when there is a wild Cornish storm! Abel's is a converted barn with over 250 years of history. This delightful cottage was once the forge where the blacksmith Abel worked, serving the local parish of St. Gennys. The cottage is located up a mile long single track lane which passes through a stream. It is set within Cleave Farm's fields and woodland and is very close to the spectacular, rugged Cornish path and coastline. It's only 200m from the coast path and a 6 min drive to fabulous Crackington beach. There is plenty of outdoor space to sit and relax, to play, chill, BBQ and star gaze in the evenings! Please check us out on the web. Contact me for reduced rates if there are just two of you visiting out of the peak season. Your safety is a top priority for us - we are fully compliant with the new strict fire regulations. Abel's is set among eight dwellings on the farm, some are holiday rentals and some are permanent residents - we live in Middle Cottage next door. I also have a cottage which sleeps 4 and an annexe which sleeps 2. Please be respectful of other people who live or are on holiday at Cleave Farm by being mindful of noise levels - Cleave Farm is more of a tranquil and relaxing space than a place to be loud and rowdy - we appreciate your understanding and being respectful of this. Quiet time 9pm - 9am. Many people return again and again to holiday at Cleave Farm - this is proof of the charm that this place offers! Cleave Farm is secluded and tucked away in a wonderful location, yet not too far from many exciting places that Cornwall has to explore. Very well behaved dogs (maximum two) are welcome at Cleave Farm - please book and pay for your dog and do not just turn up with your dog. Please be assured that we are cleaning the cottage in the most thorough way possible in between bookings. Check in time is 3pm and we appreciate your prompt check out at 10am on day of departure please. Guest access Abel's has a lovely slated patio area at the front of the property, perfect for sitting in the sunshine, eating meals and sitting under the breath-taking starlit night skies. There is a shed with BBQ for your use - you can store surfboards etc in the shed. Your children will enjoy the garden area, plenty of space to kick a football around. Three minutes walk across the garden and around the hedge in the cliff field, will take you to the coastal footpath and the spectacular rugged Cornish cliffs and breath taking sunsets. The cottage is next to woodland, which belongs to Cleave Farm. Springtime is breath-taking as the wildflowers take over and carpet the ground between ancient, twisting oaks and trees of the woodland. Very well behaved dogs are welcome at Cleave Farm - don't forget to book them in and not just turn up with your dog - thank you for your understanding. Other things to note Contact me for reduced rates for couples out of peak season. There will be a basket of logs for you on arrival. These are environmentally friendly kiln dried logs. Extra logs are available to buy from nearby Wainhouse Corner. Also, we ask that you drive very slowly around the farm and up the lane to avoid children, walkers, cats etc....thank you for respecting this. Please be mindful of your noise level, as there are other people living and holidaying at Cleave Farm, which is a peaceful and tranquil place to stay. Quiet times between 9pm and 9am.
