No.3 is a self-contained property which was the extension of the original farm cottage built in 1907, now part of the hosts’ residence (number 4). It has it’s own separate access off a quiet unclassified road leading out of the village of Winterborne Whitechurch with off-road parking. The property has been adapted to provide all the comforts for a quiet enjoyable stay but public transport is infrequent so a car is recommended. The space The separate entrance to Number 3 is well sign posted off the unclassified road about 1/4 mile out of the village of Winterborne Whitechurch. From the off-road parking the front door is a level access with an movement sensor security light. The entrance is a small hallway with hooks for coats and leads to a large well equipped kitchen and dining area. The kitchen has a central island with sink; there is a large fridge and ample work top surface. A table providers adequate dining space for three guests. Off the kitchen is a downstairs single bedroom with en-suite toilet/washbasin. Under the stairs leading to the first floor is a washing machine and table top freezer, as well as some storage space and a boot rack. The stairs lead to a sitting room with large comfortable sofa and arm chair and TV. Windows face east back towards the village and north on to the hosts’ large and well tended garden, orchard and fields beyond. The main bathroom is off the sitting room and comprises a WC, basin and shower. Also from the sitting room one enters the double bedroom with cupboard space and hooks for storage. The outside space is a well-sized patio with a well tended flower bed, table and chairs as well as BBQ facilities in the summer. The property is listed as ‘not suitable for infants’ because there is insufficient room for a cot without blocking doorways. The upstairs area is also ‘open’ to the stairway. Other things to note Cycling You will have a superb area for both mountain biking and road biking on your doorstep. Your host Mark is a keen road cyclist and can tell you about many different routes from a relatively easy 10 miler to a challenging 60 miles or more - these will invariably come with recommendations for good pub or coffee/cake stops! Walking From the house there are plenty of footpaths to give you a nice circuit to the pub or a longer hike through farmland and forest. Coastal Close and ideal for walking, swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding and kite/wind surfing. Crafts Your host Jo is a well known local potter and you will be welcome to visit the showroom and pottery when she is around. If art is your thing then Jo can give you good advice about local galleries and crafters to visit. Sight seeing Just up the road is the picturesque village of Milton Abbas with the Hambro Arms pub and tea rooms. The Abbey, part of the splendid Milton Abbey School is a frequent venue for weddings and Number 3 provides ideal accommodation if you are attending and looking for a night or two..... The National Trust properties of Kingston Lacey and Corfe Castle are close by as well as Athelhampton House, Hardy’ Cottage and Laurence of Arabia’s Clouds House. The fantastic world heritage sight of the Jurassic Coast, Studland and for a different experience across the chain link ferry to Sandbanks are all worth a visit. Going westwards is Lulworth Cove (walk across to the famous Durdle Door) Ringsead beach and the Victorian sea front of Weymouth as well as it’s lovely old harbour. Weymouth and Portland is home to the British Sailing Academy where one can take wind surfing/kiting and sailing lessons or just enjoy a drink and/or meal in ‘The Boat that Rocks’. If sea food is your thing visit the famous Crab House Cafe. Further down the coast is Abbotsbury with it’s unique swannery at the end of Chescombe beach and beyond Bridport (great Saturday market) and West Bay renowned for it’s Fish ‘n Chips!
