Historic-17th-century residence built on the ruins of the ancient Castle of Piantravigne that was destroyed in 1302 during the war between Guelphs and Ghibellines. Today it welcomes the guests in an elegant and recently renovated building. INFO COVID-19: our Villa is available for private groups up to 8 people. The space Surrounded by the rolling hills of Chianti region and the Apennines mountain chain, the historic and prestigious Fattoria di Piantravigne rises from the ruins of an ancient castle. The Villa dates back to the 17th century and takes its name from the small, medieval hamlet of Piantravigne, located in the Valdarno area, joining the three important cities of Florence, Siena and Arezzo. The landscape is the same depicted by Leonardo da Vinci in some of his most famous paintings: unique, ochre-coloured badlands, named Balze in Italian, standing between the green trees and the blue sky. Guest access Developed in three levels, for a total of 689 square meters, it has preserved the ancient charm thanks to an important conservative restoration that made it possible to leave untouched the original materials, such as the hand-made terracotta tiled floor or the wooden beams. From the town square there is a direct access to the property through a gate, which welcomes the guests in the private courtyard with a beautiful panoramic terrace; from here, it is possible to reach the back of the Villa with an equipped swimming pool and a very nice garden. On the right side of the pool there is a small door welcoming you in the astonishing, two-hectars park; a green path brings to its downstream part where you can find the old lemon houses and the small vineyard, but also many tables, benches and hammocks. Going back to the entrance, it is possible to access the Piano Nobile, the main floor, through the double-ramp staircase situated on the front of the building.
