The Cellar Barn is a cosy ground floor converted barn offering a family cottage break in rural Somerset countryside. Private courtyard garden & seating area. Free parking. The rustic refurbished barn is set within the grounds of a large country house with leisure facilities. It comprises an open plan living/kitchen area, 2 bedrooms (1 Double, 1 Bunk Beds + single bed) and a bathroom with shower over bath and full size bath. Wifi throughout. Smart TV. Hot Tub/sauna/gym available (extra cost) The space The Cellar Barn is located in the grounds of an old family home now updated and offering a complex of converted barns. Please see our other cottages 'The Apple Store' and 'The Potting Shed' which could be booked with extended family groups. The complex is set in 12 acres of grounds, gardens and an old apple orchard. Guests are welcome to take a walk down the Orchard to see the beautiful views across to Cheddar Gorge or stroll around to meet the friendly animals. The Cellar Barn has an open plan living area with kitchen, lounge and dining area. We leave some provisions for your arrival including coffee, tea, sugar, milk and juice as well as some treats. Kitchen has all the comforts of home including microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, oven, hob and all the utensils, crockery and cutlery you will need. Living area has a large dining table for 5/6 guests and 2 comfy sofas and Smart TV with most viewing apps where you can use your own account. Free Wifi. One bedroom has a full size double bed, drawer set for clothes storage and hanging wall hooks. The second bedroom is compact with adult size bunk beds and a single bed (2'6") and a set of drawers. Bathroom comprises of WC, basin, shower over bath and full size bath. High Chair/travel cot available on request. (first request only) Outside space includes a small private garden with seating - perfect place for your morning breakfast or coffee as it is a real suntrap on hot days. We have a BBQ which can be provided on request. We have off road parking available beside the property for 1 car ( if you are bringing 2 cars please let us know and we can arrange extra parking.) Our neighbours 'The Goat Shed gym' allow our guests to use their gym and leisure facilities, including : swimming pool (heated in summer season), hot tub and sauna. This can be arranged by booking and payment online directly with them. This is not included in the price of the accommodation. Please note that the gym run classes at set times during the morning/evening and you may hear the background music they use at this time. There is also a cafe across the car park next door doing yummy homemade food, coffee and cakes. If you would like a little walk you can wander across the grass area of the walled garden and through into our apple orchard which has a seating area overlooking the Somerset Levels across to Cheddar Gorge and a flat grass area for ball games - Some garden games are located in the orchard during the summer season for the use of our guests. If you come in September you are welcome to try the different varieties of apples. A walk around the grounds gives you the opportunity to meet some unusual friends including : our friendly pig- Barry, Goats, Donkeys, Horses, Alpacas, sheep, chickens and a Red Deer- Saffron... as well as our friendly cats and dogs. Located in a quiet village with 2 pubs within walking distance, as well as a children's park 10 mins walk away. There is a well stocked grocery shop and post office in the village and a short car journey will bring you to several good restaurants. A file with information of local places to visit is available in the Cellar Barn along with tourist information leaflets. The village is on the Somerset Cycle route so an idea place to stay during a cycling break to see the wonderful Somerset Levels or take the challenge of the steep climb up Cheddar Gorge. Chilton Polden is on many Somerset cycle routes. For more information about some of the routes that pass the door look up 'Overview of cycling in Chilton Polden'. Guest access Our property is located in Chilton Polden in the heart of Somerset. PLEASE USE OUR DIRECTIONS TO LOCATE THE PROPERTY. There is a well stocked village stores and post office about a mile away in the adjoining village of Edington. About 10 minutes walk into the village of Chilton Polden you will find the childrens play area and park (down Smallways Lane) which has swing, slides, climbing frame etc, a basketball hoop and large grass area for games. 2 pubs are within walking distance - The Leather & Lace, Chilton Polden and the Red Tile, Cossington. Chilton Polden is only a 4 mile drive from Junction 23 of M5 and is half way between Bridgwater and Street . The Polden Hills are attractive range of hills rising from the Somerset levels. Glastonbury is 7 miles away with its famous Abbey and Tor. The town of Street with the famous Clarks Village Shopping Outlet is only 5 miles from us. Cheddar Gorge and Caves can be seen across the moors and it is a 30 minute drive to view the spectacular scenery and visit the famous caves and Wookey Hole. It is a short drive to the Quantock Hills and Somerset Coast. Beaches at Burnham and Brean are 15 minutes away and also to be found here is the historic Golf Links. Other things to note We have 2 small dogs - Bertie(dad) and Albe (his son) - they may come and say hello when you arrive because they are very friendly and love all our guests. Do not charge electric cars from the property as the supply is not set up for this. This is a NO SMOKING property
