Luxury apartment in a monumental 17th century farmhouse in a quiet location near Hackfort estate in Vorden. Three bedrooms, kitchen with cooking island, wood stove, rain shower, bath, infrared sauna and 1,000 m2 garden. The space Groot Okhorst is a monumental farm located in the old agricultural landscape of Hackfort estate near Vorden. The earliest mention of the Ockhorst estate dates back to the year 1540. The current farm was built in 1641 and expanded in 1847. In six years of hard work, we have completely renovated the farm and equipped it with a guest house with the most modern amenities. The guest house is located in the oldest part of the front house and consists of four levels connected by an open staircase. High open spaces and atmospheric color lighting provide a special experience of the volume and construction of the farm. In the bedrooms on the floor, you sleep under the centuries-old spore canopy of hand-sawn oak beams that are shaped to the tree from which they were made. In some wooden parts, hand-forged nails and construction traces of applications in previous buildings are visible. The upstairs room, which was used in the past as a beautiful room where the residents stayed on Sundays or received visitors, was given a suitable new purpose as a dining and living room for our guests. From the sofa, you have a view of the nearby forests of Natuurmonumenten and a wide meadow landscape where you can spot deer and small game in the twilight. The guest house has a kitchen with a cooking island and a spacious bathroom with a rain shower, bath and infrared sauna. Underfloor heating and cooling ensure a pleasant indoor climate all year round. In colder seasons, you can enjoy the atmospheric warmth and the flames of a wood-burning stove. Of course there is WiFi available, but there is also the possibility to watch movies via Netflix and Apple TV. Our guests have a flowery garden with an area of about 1000 square meters. In the adjacent meadow, donkey Pino and Shetland pony Henrik keep you company. Guest access The guest house has its own access and private driveway and garden. Our private driveway and garden are located on the other side of the house so you are assured of good privacy. Other things to note Due to the height differences, the accommodation is not optimally safe for small children (for example, we do not have stair gates). The accommodation is also unsuitable for people with walking difficulties. One of the double beds has a length of 1.90 meters. The apartment can be booked from September 2015. We are in the start-up phase and because we still have a lot to learn ourselves, we are currently offering a reduced rate. More photos of the interior will follow soon!
