Description

Large suite in the spaces of the old barn, with bathroom, walk-in closet and living room. It is located inside a palace of gonzaghesca origin that houses two dining rooms on the ground floor where you can taste traditional cuisine. The space La Mainolda has sixteenth-century origins, probably born as a summer residence of a Gonzaga cadet family, the lords of Mantua, but over time it is used as a farm giving accommodation to sharecroppers and breeders. At the beginning of the new century, its conditions are almost as close to ruin as many historic farmsteads in our territory whose restoration costs are prohibitive. Love for the land and for the kitchen are at this point solved in an ambitious project. The restoration begins shortly before the earthquake of Emilia that in this area has also made the souls tremble. The intervention, which originally provided for a more invasive redevelopment of the building, immediately brought to light frescoes on the walls and decorations on the wooden floors, imposing a design line much more attentive to the enhancement of the existing. The restoration was aimed at preserving the building envelope both from a formal, material and typological point of view, and from a structural point of view. The layout has been fully preserved. The vertical body in the inner cortice where in the 1960s the only bathroom in the complex was built, it was used to bring the amenities to all floors and raised to create the tower: the bathroom with panoramic views of the countryside. Views, details, furnishings that came to light during the work (terracotta floors broken by frost, slits, steps, flaps...) are evidence of construction techniques, materials used but above all of the uses and customs of the people who lived there. The concave floors near the hearth where it used to cook are a clear example. All the experience of the house has been respected and integrated into the present according to a precise philosophy. The external electrical system with ceramic elements is the modern solution that takes up the old electric plates that are no longer in compliance . There are currently four lodgings in the Court: two on the main floor and two in what was originally the barn. On the ground floor, on the other hand, the string of rooms connects all the spaces : from the kitchen to the dining rooms, then the old bar of the early twentieth century and then the small rooms with the large table set up and the armchairs to relax. Respect for the pre-existing ones has imposed an extremely sober approach for all that regards the furnishings and the small works of modernization necessary. To dialogue with the past, pieces have been chosen that have made the history of design Castiglioni, Eames, Rashid, combined with the restored furniture that has always been found in the Court. Plasterboard panels with iron profiles have been designed to accommodate heating and air conditioning systems in the suites. These are non-permanent facilities that can be removed if needed. The bathrooms have smoothed concrete floors and bespoke iron sinks that play on shades of gray and anthracite, giving notes of rustic and sophisticated elegance. Iron is one of the privileged materials. The suite in the former barn has a floor consisting of cutlery iron slabs and then fixed by weld points. A delightful and intimate inner courtyard is the space dedicated to summer breakfasts with an antique brick oven where he cooks bread and with the barbecue: the tables are placed under an iron pergola with removable curtains. Modern structure that joins the old arbor in pairs on which climbs a centennial wisteria. From the wooden "ramshackle" door you can access the walk by the ditch where geese and chickens swim. Other things to note Dogs and cats... For the stay of your animal friends you have to pay a single initial sum of the amount of 15 euros that is used for the cleaning of all fabrics and carpets after your departure, with which we want to guarantee a comfortable stay even to subsequent guests. In the room it is allowed to have a maximum of two animals at the same time. In the common spaces of the hotel, animals must be brought on a leash. Pets should not be left unattended in the rooms. The pet must be used to living at home and at a rate of cleanliness. If your pets cause too much clutter, you may request the payment of a supplement from you. Noise should be kept to a minimum. Dog barking or cat mowing can disturb other guests. For the safety and comfort of your pet, the maid will not clean the room if your pet is left unattended. Guests are responsible for any and all damage to property and/or persons caused by their pet. The owner is responsible for the repair and/or replacement of any objects that may be stained or damaged by the animal. Registration details IT020016B52RQDJFQU
