John's Bunkhouse, Berneray

John'a Bunkhouse is on an island accessible by causeway to North Uist. We are located in the middle of the Hebridean chain of islands, ideal for day trips to the Uists and Harris. We are open all year round as each season offers a new experience for visitors. In spring and summer we are a perfect stoppping off point for walkers and cyclists doing the Hebridean Way. In autumn and winter we provide a cosy retreat for those wanting to experience the extremes of our Hebridean weather. The space Our bunkhouse is built on the footprint of a Hebridean blackhouse. It combines the charm of a traditional crofthouse with the convenience of a modern, low energy hostel. It has underfloor heating provided by an airsource heat pump. There is also a peat burning stove. Guest access Our guests can access their own bedroom and a shared bathroom. There is also a kitchen/living room, a drying room, bike shed and parking. During your stay We live just beside the bunkhouse and are happy to provide local information and sort out any issues. Other things to note Our local shop and cafe/restaurant is close by. The shop and cafe are open all year round. The restarant is open in the evenings, between April and October.
