The apartment is located in the center of Bologna. We called it "a stone's throw away" because it is close to everything: a stone's throw away (15 minutes on foot) from the train station and the airport bus, the bus station, Piazza Maggiore and the oldest university in Europe. Served by all public transport. Nearby are museums, libraries, the best restaurants, bars and pubs, but there are also supermarkets, greengrocers, and the famous herb market, to eat at home. The space ----------- The apt. is located in the center of Bologna. We called "four steps" because it´s close to everything: four steps (15 minute by walk) from the train station and airbus, from the bus station, Piazza Maggiore and the oldest university in Europe. Served by all public transport. Nearby you can find museums, libraries, the best restaurants, bars and pubs, but there are supermarkets, fruit shops and the famous market "mercato delle erbe", for the cockers. Note: Theapartment ison the first floor without an elevator. Sorry, thebuilding has not yet been equipped with access for people with limited mobility. Ci stiamo lavorando!! Clearly within our limits. But we have a lot of friends, great connoisseurs of Bologna, so we hope to answer most of your questions. When our friend Raffaela is not here, she plays as a host. You, even more than we do, know Bologna. Me and Dalva, this years, diced to live a little bit in Italy and a little bit in Brazil. When we are at home we will be super happy to give any advice or information about the city. Clearly under our limits. But we have many friends, great connoisseurs of Bologna and then hopefully, we´ll answer most of your doubts. When we are not in Bologna our friend Raffaela, plays the role of host. She, even more of us, knows Bologna. Ways TO reach US: Airport: Aerobus a direct connection every 11 minutes it takes you to the Station. The first ride from the airport is at 5:30 am, the last at 12:15 am, the first ride from the station departs at 5:00 am, the last at 11:35 pm. 6 euros per person and takes you to the train station From the station: 10 minutes walk under the arcades of Via Indipendenza. As soon as you pass Piazza 8 Agosto on your left, enter Via Righi, immediately to the right on Via Malcontenti and Via Bertiera 10, under the diffianco porch at the Bar. Taxi: If you are 3 or more people, it is worth checking a taxi that is around 25 euros and takes you under the house. By car: beware that it is a restricted area to traffic, partly pedestrian, with control cameras. But there's plenty of parking 5 minutes away. The main one is an underground parking lot 3 minutes away in Piazza 8 Agosto. There is also an option to park for 1 euro per day in the Tanari parking lot, 20-30 minutes from the house and with a bus service included in the price. (English version below) La Finestrella degli lovers In Via Piella, below the house, you will find the famous WINDOW. A point of Bologna where you can have a suggestive view of the Rhine River that, atonely, it rises in the streets of the center. If you're a guest, know that thebuilding allows you exclusive access to the River, from the cellars. Go downstairs and go to the door at the bottom of the hallway. Just be careful not to fall... (English version below) The neighborhood Theapartment is in the San Vitale neighborhood, the neighborhood of the University, ofthe bars, of the "biassanot", a Bolognese word to indicate the "mastica notte", of the night owls. Don't worry though! Our street is quiet. You are very close to many restaurants, bars, trattorias, nightclubs. There is no place for all tastes. We don't even suggest a respect anything else. Get lost in the streets and look for what you like. Clearly, at the end the center of Bologna is not very big and so you can roam the various neighborhoods by walking the streets, always quite alive even at night. But always very CAREFUL when going by night!! The city is quiet, but you don't have to overdo it. Always in company and in the tight..um nice taxi!! (English version below) A little bit of history Thebuilding where you will be staying, is located on the walls ofhe year 1100 or so. Also call the Torresotti or Mille walls. In the municipal period, the population of Bologna is on the rise, and many homes begin to be built outside the Roman walls called "of Selenite" of the sec. IV and V, therefore, there is a need to protect these new neighborhoods as well. Therefore, a second wall was built, about four kilometers long, equipped with 19 doors called greenhouse or towers (because it is surmounted by defense towers), surrounded by a moat fed by the Aposa stream and the Rhine River. Of the 19 doors, today there are only four left, and one is the Torresotto on Via Piella right below the house!!! The others still exist are the Torresotto on Via Porta Nova, Via San Vitale and Via Castiglione. Thelast circle of walls, the most visible, are from the 13th century. (English version below) The street Bertiera is a very old name. Already mentioned in the estimates of 1296 as Strata Beriteriorum, Bereteriii As for the origin of the odonym Bertiera, according to the hypothesis of the historians (the Zanti and the Fanti), it was due to the fact that in this region headdresses were produced, known as berets...from the berterii and thecurrent Bertiera. In the State Archive on 1268 there is documented the Via Bereteriorum and the Contram beretariorum, areas near the Reno canal (ripa fossati, super fossato civitatis, navigium), in line with the quotes of 1296. Rinaldo, Guglielmo di Tommaso Ariosti, who had a house in Via Bertiera Scoperta. The deed is by Bondomenico da Cento of December 5, 1330. Building of a house on the ground, and reasons on the ground, belonging to the Municipality of Bologna to go towards the canal, which building on the ground is under S. Tommaso del Mercato, or under Santa Maria Maggiore in Bertiera. Chiara di Benedetto, Giovanni di Giacomo, now the Bishopric, the public street and the Naviglio, of value L. 24. House almost to the Via Campo di Fiore, on whose façade there was a weapon with a rampant lion that holds a branch of rinds in his fangs, and on the head of the shield there is a cross with two lilies. The first bus from the airport is at 5:30, the last at 00:15, the first from the Train station leaves at 5:00, the last at 23:35 hours. 6 € per person From the Train station: 10 minutes walk under the arcades of Via Independence. Just past the Piazza 8 Agosto and on your left take Via Righi, immediately right onto Via Malcontenti and left in Via Bertiera 10, under the arcades close to the Bar. Taxi: If you are 3 or more people it's worth checking a taxi. It´s around 25 € and bring you under the house. By car: attention that is restricted traffic area! Partly pedestrian, with monitoring cameras. But there are plenty of parking within 5 minutes. The principal is an underground parking at the 3 minutes , in the Piazza 8 Agosto. There is also a cheapest option to park at 1 euro per day in the Tanari parking, 20-30 minutes from the apartment and bus service included in the price. The window of lovers In Via Piella, close to the house, you will find the famous WINDOW. A point of Bologna where you can have a picturesque view of the Reno river, sliding between the streets of the downtown. If you are a guests, the building provides to you an exclusive access to the River, from the cellars. Go down to the stairs and look in the door at the end of the corridor. Be careful not to fall ... The District The apartment is in the San Vitale district, the district of the University, of bars, restaurants, of the "Biassanot", Bologna words that means "the night´s chews", the night owls. But do not worry! Our street is very quiet. You are very close to many restaurants, bars, taverns, night clubs. There are for any kind of tastes. We suggest to lose yourself in the streets and look for the one that you like. Clearly, at the end... the Bologna Center it is not so big and then you can wander around in the various neighborhoods going to walk in the streets crowded also in the night. BUT please take ATTENTION when you go at night !! The town is quiet, but do not overdo it. Always in the company and if´s too dark...why not a good taxi !! A bit of history The building where you will stay, is located on the ancient Walls of the city, around the year 1100. Also called Walls of Torresotti. In the communal period the Bologna population is soaring, and many homes are building outside the Roman walls called "of Selenite" ( IV and V). To protect these also now districts of the city is therefore built a second wall, about four kilometers longer, with 19 gate or Torresotti (because surmounted by defensive towers), surrounded by the Aposa stream and the River Reno. Of the 19 gate today there are only four, and one is the Torresotto in via Piella just below the house !!! The remaining others are the Torresotto Via Porta Nova, Via San Vitale and Via Castiglione. The last Walls of the city, the most visible, are of the XIII century. The Street Bertiera is very old name. Already mentioned in 1296 as Strata Beriteriorum, Bereteriii The origin of the name Bertiera, according to the hypothesis of historians (the Zanti and Fanti), bacame from the producer of the caps working in the area, this caps has a name bereterii ... so now Bertiera. In the Archive of State dated 1268 has documented the street as bereteriorum, an areas close to the channel of the Reno.
