Berrywood cottage is situated on the side of Wind tor. Facing southeast, we enjoy spectacular sun rises across the vale of Widecombe. Main bedroom has a double and single bed. Bedroom two has two singles. Our house is attached to the cottage so the key is available at any time. The space Our beautiful cottage stands on the outskirts of Widecombe in the Moor, near the heart of Dartmoor. Set in the Widecombe Valley, Berrywood Cottage is a charming and cosy retreat for those looking to get away from it all. Guests can walk into Widecombe or explore the moor itself. A cosy, self contained, semi-detached cottage. There are one double and twin rooms on the top floor, and a private bathroom with shower. Heating is provided by radiators. The Lounge/Diner is at the front of the house with French Windows enabling beautiful views across the garden and out onto the Moor. Sleeps up to 4 (COVID -19 cleanliness and hygiene are of a very high standard. We try to provide you with a comfortable stay) The cottage/annex has 2 comfortable double bedrooms with clean bed linen and fresh towels. Each bedroom has a wardrobe and a chest of drawers. there is a full equipped kitchen with electric cookers, a microwave oven and a fridge freezer. The dinning/sitting room has French windows which gives a wonderful view across the garden lawn to the open moor. We have an organic vegetable garden, which you are welcome to gather for your own meals. Washer and Dryer is not hooked up but we will provide free laundry service for you anytime. We are very happy to advice you on the area. The cottage has open access to Dartmoor, for which we can offer you assistance via maps and guidebooks. We can also by prearrangement, offer you instructions on walking routes, tailor made to suit your requirements. Breakfast is not included. Widecombe is a historic village, with its parish church rightly known as the cathedral of the moor. It is also home to the famous Widecombe fair. The area is surrounded by beautiful Tors and streams. Hidden valleys contain the remains of many past settlements, from medieval villages, to stone age and bronze age hut circles. The world famous Merrivale stone row is only half an hours drive away. Horse riding and canoeing are also popular local activities. Surrounding villages and towns offer regular farmers markets, with a taste of the local. Most of these villages you will find a warm welcome in their tearooms and inns. The larger villages also home to their own traditional country fair, emphasising country music and folk dancing. Many of Dartmoor's long distance walks pass this way, including the very popular two moor way which links the south Dartmoor coast with the Exmoor coast. Best to bring your own car to really indulge your self here on the moors. Guest access There is a TV&DVD player in the lounge for your use and WIFI is available. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use. You may be able to pick your own organic vegetables from our garden in season. Berrywood is not suitable for wheel chairs as we have no downstairs bedroom... Sorry. Other things to note We should tell you that we are on the open moor, continually visited by cattle. Ponies, sheep and cows graze just inches away from the house, so get your cameras on stand by. If you are lucky, you might even get to see new born lambs and even baby ponies.
