Best gelato in town, across the street! Door can lock. The apartment is in an old (and charmful!) building and is new, modern and neat inside. It has a spacious garden, ideal for dinner or breakfast when the weather allows it. The high ceilings and minimalist furniture further increase the feeling of a comfortable, spacious place, ideal for relaxing and resting after visiting the city. Guests have access to the garden, to a fully equipped kitchen (for an additional €5 daily fee), to a rich international collection of dvds, cds and travel books. Information about Florence is also accessible through guides or online (speak with hosts if further interested). Also, we are lucky enough to have the best ice-cream shop in town (Gelateria de Medici) right across the street! But we're not sure that's a good thing... We are a franco-italian couple who speak good English, French, Italian and Greek. Francesco works for an Italian bank whereas Thalia works in urban tourism and will be delighted to give you detailed information about what you should not miss in the city! We are happy to interact during breakfast and give you practical advice about the city around a coffee or afternoon tea! If you are visiting while we are in the apartment you will also most likely meet Mila, our friendly dog! The neighborhood is full of locals and is busy during the daytime. It is safe during night time. There are cafes and stores all around the building which is situated right across the street from one of the major exhibition spaces in Florence. The apartment is across the street from the Fortezza da Basso and the old city center but is also close to markets, to the river and to the train station making it very easy for guests to visit Tuscany by train or by bus. The location is ideal for getting around by public transit, bike or on foot but parking is also possible. Guest access We are lucky enough to have the best ice-cream shop in town (Gelateria de Medici) right across the street! But we're not sure that's a good thing... There is also a great oven pizza place behind the block. If it is too crowded you can bring it home and enjoy it in our garden or kitchen! Other things to note The sofa bed in the living room actually becomes a real matrimonial bed. It is comfortable. The room closes with a lock and the door in the living room is a beautiful glass sliding door from Indonesia. You have lots of privacy since the living room is independent from the rest of the house but you must know that the two windows are small and high up since that room is half below street level. Some light still enters the room in the morning since there are no curtains and eventhough the room is equipped with double glass windows, one can still hear street noises. The neighborhood is quiet, especially at night but one can still hear some regular street activity such as the cars passing by and if you are a particularly light sleeper, this room may not be for you. The windows open automatically with a button and the room is very comfortable, pleasant and beautiful but we prefer telling guests about these facts before they book, in order to make sure your stay meets your expectations (and hopefully exceeds them!). You will most likely be sharing the bathroom with one other guest. We can sometimes be flexible about the check-in, check-out times but it is the guests' responsibility to make sure we are available to check them in before they complete their booking (please send us a message and we will quickly reply to you if your check-in time is feasible that day, or not. We do not accept any check-in before 7am). Basic breakfast ingredients and kitchen use are available for an extra charge of €5 per person, per day. The two beds are separate but connected. Do not hesitate to write to us if you have questions. We ask for the full name and ID photocopies to provide the guests' information to the relevant authorities (we can photocopy IDs in the apartment during the check in). No smoking in the apartment please (smokers are generally happy to smoke outside in the garden, especially during warm seasons).
