Description

A pretty detached historic 3 bedroom flint cottage up a private drive with a wood burner, delightful private garden, terrace, summer house and deck area overlooking a pond full of wildlife. Set in an AONB it is walking distance to the charming village of Thorncombe with a great community run shop and playground. There are lots of walks from the doorstep, plenty of wildlife and no light pollution, so amazing night skies, with the Jurassic coast and plenty of historic houses close by to explore. The space Downstairs is the living room with wood burner & wooden floor and smart tv, well equipped kitchen, dining room/conservatory with tiled floor opening onto the garden, single bedroom, bathroom with separate shower, bath & toilet and small utility area with washing machine and separate tumble drier. Stairs lead to two light double bedrooms both with Kingsize beds, the main bedroom also has a smart TV and small en-suite loo and sink. The whole cottage has super fast broadband. Out at the back there is a spacious patio with plenty of seating, a separate deck area with BBQ and summer house ( which has wifi), a rotary air washing line, garden tap and an established garden and grassy lawn leading down to a spring fed pond. An electric car charger is available to use with permission. The Area The cottage is a short walk to the charming village of Thorncombe and close to the town of Beaminster, the bustling market town of Bridport/ West Bay & 8 miles from the beaches of Lyme Regis & the Jurassic coast. National Trust properties of Barrington Court, Montacute House & Tintinhull Gardens, the private houses & gardens of Forde Abbey & Mapperton are all near by, the Wessex Ridgeway, Jubilee and Monarch Trails are all on the door step, and we are close by to highest inland spot Pilsdon Pen plus not far from Golden Cap on the coast, where there are endless walks too. For those that like a challenge we have the perfect cycling from the door step! Furleigh Wine Estate and Palmers beer are both near by for those interested into going behind the scenes on the making of local produce and for those seeking adventure rib charters, mackerel fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding and electric bike tours are all available down by the coast. For eating there are many excellent restaurants & gastro pubs near by (The Lord Poullet Arms, Rockfish, The Ollerod & Brassica to name a few), several farm shops with local produce, as well as Waitrose & Lidl 10 minutes away, plus our village has a well stocked community run shop & cafe open 7 days a week and a small local playground. We even have a local brewery (Gyle 59) just outside the village! Distances 1 mile to Forde Abbey 6 miles to Crewkerne - local butcher and large Waitrose & Lidl, swimming pool, train station to London and Exeter. 6 miles to Beaminster - Great butcher, green grocers with locally grown fruit and veg, small supermarket, Brassica & Ollerod restaurant and some lovely gift shops. 7 miles to River Cottage HQ and River Cottage Cafe. 8 miles to Lyme Regis - The famous Cobb, sandy beach and swim line, fossil hunting, mackerel fishing trips, kayak hire, sailing school, public golf course, lots of pubs and shops, including Rockfish. 10 miles to Bridport market every Wednesday and Saturday with a local produce, antique and vintage shops, old Cinema, Dorset's finest ale - Palmers brewery, then a mile onto West Bay with a beautiful beach (where Broadchurch was filmed), and wood fired pizza at The Watch House which is on the beach, fishing trips. 10 miles to Mapperton House where far from the Madding Crowd was filmed. 11 miles to Charmouth - Fossil hunting, boat trips. 13 miles to Montacute House - where Wolf Hall was filmed. Guest access The cottage has it's own established private back garden with a deck, BBQ & summer house, generous lawned area leading down to a spring fed pond ( young children will need to be supervised). There are plenty of tables, benches & chairs in the garden, parking for 2 cars.
