Views from the main bedroom include a skyscape featuring the famous Devonshire Dome, once the largest unsupported dome in Europe and now the home of the University of Derby’s Buxton campus. The town’s Cultural Quarter if just five minutes’ walk away, and features some of the North of England’s most fascinating buildings – the Dome, The Crescent, Buxton Opera House, the Pavilion Gardens and England’s oldest continuously operating hotel, The Old Hall, where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned. The Quarter includes restaurants – Indian, French, Italian, Thai and Swiss – as well as quirky bars and cafes and bijou boutiques in the Cavendish Arcade, a converted thermal bath complex dating back to its hey-day as a spa town.
