The studio has its own entrance; underfloor heating; bedroom with king-sized bed; (power) shower room with toilet; living room/kitchenette with dining room table, smart TV and king-size wallbed; use of the garden & plentiful free road-side parking. Bus routes (95 & 52) run every 10 minutes to the universities, city centre and train station. Taxis from the station are approx. £6-£8. The Peak District is 15 minutes away by car. Ideal for professionals, families and outdoor enthusiasts. The space You'll be staying in a recently-converted lower ground floor apartment under our family home, a detached 1900s gritstone house. The studio's entrance is through double french doors which look out onto the garden, where you are welcome to make use of the seating and children's toys. In the summer and autumn please help yourselves to the fruit and berries on the trees and bushes through the garden. As you walk through the French doors you will be in the main room which has a large L-shaped sofa, a coffee table and a dining room table with 4 chairs. The king-sized wallbed and kitchenette are at opposite ends of the main room. There is full fibre Wifi Internet, a DAB radio and a Smart TV (no terrestrial) with BBC iPlayer, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Paramount Plus, Disney Plus, AppleTV, etc. or you can stream videos from your own mobile or laptop. For those needing a workspace, we can provide you with a monitor and full size keyboard, and you are welcome to use the colour laser printer for boarding passes, tickets etc. There are power sockets throughout the studio. Each bed has sockets next to it for you to charge phones and tablets. If you forget to bring them, we can provide you with extra charging cables and International plug adaptors. When you arrive you will find a wide selection of hot drinks, including ground coffee at your disposal. There will be a loaf of bread with jam and spreads for you in case you are hungry, and a selection of cereals for you to help yourself to for breakfast. The cooking appliances available are an espresso machine, microwave/convention oven, toaster, kettle and 2-ring induction hob with pans. Please let us know which type of milk (skimmed, semi, full fat, soya, rice etc.) you would like when you make your booking and we'll make sure to stock the fridge accordingly. Walking on past the kitchenette, you'll find a shower room with power shower, sink and toilet. There are two luxury cotton towels per guest as well as shower gell, shampoo and conditioner if you are travelling light. Next to the bathroom is the bedroom. The bed is a large continental king-size bed (160cmx200cm). It has generous under-bed drawers for you to store clothes etc. and there are hooks and hangers in the room for work clothes. There are also an iron and ironing board, and an almost full length mirror. Guest access You will have private access to the whole of the lower ground floor via your own entrance and shared access to the garden. Other things to note The lower ground floor is heated by underfloor heating which is zoned separately from the rest of the house so that you can easily adjust the room temperature to suit your preferences using a (very easy to operate) wireless thermostat. The main room has wall-to-ceiling windows at one end so if you like a light room, you may prefer to sleep here. If you like a dark room, then you'll love the bedroom where there is no natural light at all if you close the door. (There is a night-light you can plug in if that's too dark, or you can leave the bedroom door open and let light filter through from the main room.) If you are visiting with babies or young children, we can provide you with toys, a bouncer, highchair, bed guard and travelcot. The travel cot will fit next to either bed. Both beds' mattresses are firm. The floors are waterproof and the walls wipe clean. With enough notice, we can install a stairgate to prevent small escapees making their way upstairs to the rest of the house. The garden is private and enclosed with a variety of toys available for kids to play with.
