“Belantara”—Humble Luxury Tanjung Puting Houseboat

“Belantara" is a private-owned live aboard houseboat unlike any other in Tanjung Puting. The experience provided on the journey with "Belantara" was built based on our love and passion in exploring the conserved rainforest. Through our visits, we have acquired the discerning taste and recognized how to make the rainforest and river safari adventure incredibly wholesome. The space Visit us on Instagram @borneohouseboat Our custom designed "Belantara" is fully constructed by Bornean ironwood from hull to deck and stretches 19.2 meters long and 4 meters wide. We personally designed her as our mobile home on the river with unpretentious luxury that is tailored to our personal taste, needs and standard, hence providing unmatched level of comfort, hygiene and security. First and foremost, it is our personal hygiene requirement to have a modern, fully functioning western bathroom and toilet, as well as abundant supply of fresh clean tap water (2.5 tons) running for all usage from shower to kitchen operations. The main deck is where you'll find the guest quarters boasting 360 degrees view; furnished with dining table, hammocks, daybeds, loungers, reclining chairs—fully upholstered with Sunbrella. The front, back and upper deck is the ultimate place to absorb the view and observing the endemic wildlife and vegetation along the river, such as wild orangutans, group of proboscis monkeys, long-tailed macaques, crocodiles, monitor lizards, hornbills, kingfishers, and other various elusive birds while relaxing with your company during sunsets or enjoying dinner accompanied by fireflies. Awaken in the misty mornings with the chorus of nature singing in your ears, while our highly praised cook prepares delicious Indonesian snacks and dishes in the kitchen fresh from scratch. Come night time, our crew converts the living area to a comfortable sleeping area with spring mattresses, pillows, high quality linens, as well as mosquito drape net. You will always be kept warm under the blankets during chilly nights and sheltered by roll down blinds when it rains. Having the advantage of not being run by any tour operator, we have personally selected a team of dedicated and highly-skilled crew working full-time led by one of the most senior guide in the area —Rusty. Fluent in English and with more than 20 years of experience, Rusty's advanced knowledge of the conservatory and endemic biodiversity of flora & fauna in Borneo will leave you in awe daily!
