Description

The Ferrykeeper’s Cottage is a light filled oasis, surrounded by water, meadows & views of the famous Eggemoggin Reach. Our cottage offers handcrafted counters, stone sinks, & oceanic tile to create a unique setting. 3 houses to the beach. Borrow a kayak & explore our shore. Property borders Scott’s Landing - a treasure trove of birds, sand dollars, porpoises, seals & a family of foxes. *Queen bed + flip down sofa (latter suitable for 1 adult OR 2 small kids) The space The Ferrykeeper’s cottage is a designer’s dream - bathed in light, bird song, & surrounded by water on 3 sides - this open studio floor plan will cheerfully accommodate couples & small families. Acres of hiking can be found outside our front door. Swim off our beach; 2 doors down. The mini kitchen, full bath, & private deck are all fully stocked & await your arrival. Join us for a campfire under the stars. S'more baskets available upon request. The mini-kitchen contains a 2 coil counter-top range, a counter-top broiler oven, a microwave, coffee-maker, mini-Weber, campfire ring (think Dutch oven cooking - you may borrow one of mine) & access to a gas grill. This cottage is nestled on the back of our property to provide guests privacy, should you choose. It’s surrounded by conservation land with numerous trails that lead to the ocean. For some historical perspective, this place was once owned by Papa Scott who was the Ferry Keeper for Deer Isle, before the days when the island was reachable by bridge. The Scott family built their farm house on this spot in 1784. About Us: I’m a realtor, designer, artist, event producer, business coach, kayaker & wilderness guide. My 13 year old daughter welcomes play mates of all ages. Our creatures (Snowball our house rabbit, Zuri the cat, Caspian our horse & Johnny Cash - my favorite chicken) love Maine & are excired to share our home with you. Long term winter rentals welcome. We hope you’ll fall in love with this place as much as we have. Guest access Our guests are welcome to enjoy the shared fire pit or chiminea, kayaks, & outdoor spaces. Please, check in with me regarding kayak & fire pit/chiminea use. Please, note that there is another guest space in the barn & while we orient everyone to their special piece of property, there may be overlap. Also, please honor our 10 PM - 8 AM quiet zone so that everyone can relish the peace & serenity around them. Other things to note If you’re visiting with your furry friend, we offer pet sitting. The cost is $25 for 2 hrs. (Pets should not be left unattended). If you have a special request, feel free to ask. We love dogs around here & want to make sure that everyone is happy, healthy, & co-existing beautifully (: ****$50 fee per pet reservation For those seeking accommodations for a larger group, we also offer the Ferrykeeper’s Barn & Loft.
