Sursum Corda Retreat Center offers beautiful and private space for small groups up to 22 adults to gather near the ocean. Our rustic, comfortable facilities are conducive to small group retreats, board meetings and seminars; trainings, team building and professional development. The space is also enjoyed by large families for reunions and small weddings. Hospitality is one of our core values as well as living in simple harmony in the exquisite natural setting of Washington’s Pacific coast. Our 8 acres includes a 30Ft yurt and beautiful walking trails in old growth forest There is a small cottage on the property where the owner often stays. Very private 7 miles to Ocean Shores; 10 miles to Seabrook. .5 miles to the beach. SOME OF THE BASICS AT SURSUM CORDA • Beds and clean linen- there is a combination of twin size, full size and kings size beds available; one pillow, one bath towel and one face cloth per guest. • A kitchen with basic pots, pans, serving bowls and utensils; dishes, glassware and flatware for 22. • Dishwasher, large refrigerator, 5 burner cook-top and double wall oven; large microwave oven; large electric roaster. There is a small chest freezer in the laundry room. Plan to bring bagged ice for drinks. • 8 cup drip coffee maker; large 25 cup coffee maker. Coffee and tea are provided and basic condiments • One Gas grill; one large weber charcoal grill; a small weber to take to the beach. • Internet access and a 60” TV with bluray player to access Netflix and other media accounts. No cable TV • 6 bathrooms; three showers • Split wood for fires (inside or out) • The Wellness Center with Infrared Sauna is open for adult retreat groups. • There is a badminton set, croquet and bocce balls for the grassy area. There are sand toys for the beach and a few folding chairs for the beach. What we ask? • Please remove your shoes when indoors; there are sock booties provided if you forget your slippers • Please honor the fact that we are on a septic system in a very dynamic ecosystem. Do not put ANYTHING down the drains that will compromise the plumbing. We need to be especially careful with sand and grease. There is a container in the kitchen for cooking oil and grease. There are bags in all bathrooms for sanitary items to be placed in the trash. • Please put all plastic bottles and cans in the recycling cart outside the garage. • Please take all glass recycling home with you. • Please take all food items with you when you leave or dispose of in the garbage. • Please clean up after any unexpected mess. The vacuum cleaner and dry mop are in the front closet. A bucket and mop are in the laundry room in case of a large spill. We do not put anything on the wood floor, so just use hot water to clean. What to bring: • Food • Hiking shoes for both beach and woods • Rain wear (just in case!) • Slippers • An extra pillow • Robe for those late night walks to the bathroom • Sunscreen and bug repellent (depending on the time of year) • Camera • Alarm clock • Water bottle • Bags of ice (there are three ice trays in the freezer, but you will want more!) • Beach towels and beach blankets Amenities near by: • Copalis Grocery is 3 blocks north on Rte. 109 • The Sunrise Market in Ocean City is 2 miles south of 109 and has a variety of groceries and ice. Open Late • The Green Lantern in Copalis Beach is one mile north and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Daily specials; Bingo is played every Wednesday night. • The cut-off to Ocean Shores is 5 miles south; ~ 10 minutes into town where there are a variety of stores and services. BEACH ACCESS • You can walk to the beach by going ¼ mile north on Rt 109 to Heath Rd. (on the left). Walk to the end of the road, cross over the pedestrian bridge over Connor’s Creek and walk thru the dunes to the water. You can also drive to the end of Heath Rd, park your car on the side of the road and then walk the rest of the way. • To drive on the beach, head south on Rt. 109 to Ocean City ( 2 miles south). As you come around the bend in the road by IVAN the wood cutter, you will see the car entrance to the beach. You can load up your car for the day and have everything you need. Fires are also permitted on the beach and you are welcome to take wood from the house with you. • You can also drive ~ 10 miles north on Rt. 109 to Roosevelt Beach. (on left). It also offers car access and is another great beach. • You can also drive to Ocean Shores ( 5 miles south) and drive onto the beach in several locations.
