The space The Gold Sands unit is one of two separate apartments at Code Time Lodge - named for the history of Okarito's mid-1880's gold rush, the seaside village is a quiet place for restoration of the soul, a place to get back in touch with nature, to feel your creative and natural outdoor spirit revive. The apartments each have natural light in the kitchenette/seating areas then step up through patio doors into the main bedroom - Gold Sands has a king bed, sofa and wood burner. The bathroom is separated by sliding wood doors - there are many wooden features throughout. This unit has doors opening to a private sunfilled courtyard which looks out to the Okarito Wetlands and the Southern Alps. Guest access This indoor/outdoor flowing apartments is self-contained - both units can also be hired as one giving you the entire space as a private haven. Other things to note Okarito is a small, relatively remote village - there are no shops or restaurants here, but there is plenty to do if you love the outdoors. We offer package rates with the local Okarito Boat Tours who run ecotours of the Okarito lagoon and waterways - learn what makes this environment so unique. There are also kayak rentals available as well as nocturnal kiwi tours. Okarito has some famous west coast walks - the Trig lookout and 3 Mile Lagoon offers a forested pack track and beach walk. Franz Josef Glacier is just 20-25 minutes drive and offers access to the Glaciers as well as plenty of shops and cafes.
