Ula's Holiday Apartments - 1 Bedroom with Balcony

Our one bedroom apartment (48 m2) sleeps 2 persons and is perfect for couples seeking a true Alpine experience in an historic and traditional Swiss chalet. It has a large south-facing balcony with a table and chairs with breathtaking views of the famous Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains as well as lake Thun. The space Beatenberg is a mountain village 12 minutes by car or 20 minutes by public bus from Interlaken. Our chalet is situated on 1200 m2 of land with wonderful views from all sides of the house. There is a garden seating area where you can enjoy the peacefulness and beautiful scenery. The apartment has a queen-sized bed (160 cm x 200 cm) and the bedroom also features a couch, cable flat-screen TV with access to the balcony. The bathroom comes with towels, toiletries and a hairdryer. The large kitchen with views of the northern mountains and our garden is equipped with all that you would need for a self-catering getaway. There is free parking and free wifi. A free laundry service is provided. Our home has a special history. Our chalet was originally built in 1866, one year after the road to Beatenberg from Interlaken was constructed. Our chalet was originally the Hotel Jungfrau and the neighboring building, the Hotel Des Alpes was also constructed that year. They were the second and third guesthouses built in Beatenberg. Our specific location with direct views of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau as well as our view to lake Thun was perfectly chosen for such an endeavor. In the early 1900s Beatenberg experienced the Belle Epoche period where tourism bloomed (especially for the aristocracy of Europe seeking refuge from the cities with fresh, clean air, peaceful surroundings with beautiful panoramic views and a closeness to nature). After the Second World War, tourism essentially stopped. Our home and neighboring building then became an orphanage for children from the war and was run as such for the next 30 years. At that point the two buildings were converted into an Alpine boarding school. In the late 1980's our chalet was then converted into 5 self-contained apartments. We purchased the chalet in 2015 and have invested much effort in restoring it lovingly to its present state where people from all over the world can again enjoy this spectacular location and views. Guest access If you are considering the Interlaken area for your base for visiting Switzerland, you have found the right place! Beatenberg is the true hidden gem of this region. Due to its close proximity to Interlaken, you can easily visit the major sites yet return home to the best panoramic Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau and Lake Thun views right from your balcony! You get to experience a true Swiss Alpine stay, away from the tourist crowds and high prices of accommodation in Interlaken. For nature lovers, we have world-class hiking right from our doorstep. The family friendly Hohwald ski resort is less than 1 KM away and there is a free shuttle at the bus stop one minute from our chalet. For adventure seekers, you are in the mecca of Europe's adventure sports scene...paragliding, hang gliding, bungee jumping, canyoning, rafting, zip lines, ice climbing, mountaineering, rope parks and more! Avoid the crowds, enjoy the views, breathe in the fresh mountain air, listen to the sound of the cowbells and the occasional alphorn playing in the distance and just maybe, you will find yourself yodeling before you leave! Other things to note Please be advised that our chalet is only accessible via stairs. It is not recommended for those with mobility issues. The apartment is on the second floor of our chalet.
