Description
Within easy reach of the old city and set amongst lush green hills and organic farmland, the room is perfect to relax or explore. The room is 15min away from the city centre. Here are my other listings: Set of 2 rooms for a family: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/15525359 Set of 4 rooms for a larger family or a group: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/15526859 The entire place consisting of 8 rooms: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/19415701 The space Featured on Alistair Sawday's special places to stay, this place, built out of the rock, centers around a small temple and is within easy reach of some of the highlights of Udaipur and at the same time, far from the hustle and bustle amongst quiet fields and village life. The driveway is lined by locally growing trees and plants and helps maintain the quiet of the place. A short flight of stairs or a winding walkway then leads you to our home. Before you meet us of course, our 3 dogs would be eager to meet you and welcome you to the place. The site of the entire place had a huge rock and part of the stone cladding of the place is from cutting that rock. Indigenous styles have been adhered to and we have kept it one with the beautiful but fragile environment that surrounds us. As you reflect in the spacious drawing room while sipping on some refreshing drink, this fact will dawn upon you. The room is towards the rear of the bungalow and is a large spacious room. You would be passing 2 drawing rooms and a dining room before reaching your room. It is the only one with such magnificent views of the City Palace and the light decor, the light, the views and the sitting areas will charm you. The room comprises of furniture sourced locally and has a very comfortable double bed, a small desk to write out of or work if you need to, and a dressing table. It also comprises of a sitting area set into the window (a local specialty) where you can gaze out or use as a cozy reading corner. The room comes with an ensuite bathroom made completely out of grey tile. The bathroom has all the amenities that you would need including fresh towels, hot water, a comfortable WC and a shower. If you'd like a change of scene or sit outdoors, there are great spaces and terraces to watch the sun set from (or rise from). The sitting areas are a mix of wrought iron and wooden furniture and you will love sipping some chai at the end of the day and probably towards the latter half of your adventure through India. Farmland and hills surround the place and you will love this serenity so close to Udaipur. The food served comes from my organic farm and our place is specially known for the delicious fare we serve. Guest access We welcome you to be a part of our little nest. All guests can access the lobbies and verandas in the house. We have a large collection of coffee table books and magazines - all for the visitors (but they must be kept back in their places once you finish reading them). One can always have tea or coffee on our terrace which overlooks the city palace or the garden surrounded with plants. During your stay The Indian culture states how guest are considered as Gods "atithi devo bhava". My family has always abided to this saying and so shall I. My husband and I ensure that we have maximum interaction with our guests in order to them feel at home. I shall be very happy if I can be of any help. Looking forward to hosting you! Other things to note If you are arriving at our place in chauffeur driven vehicles, accommodation for your chauffeurs is easily available in guest houses within 1.5km from our place. Udaipur is famous for its marble artefacts and miniature paintings which are available quite near my place. I personally suggest my guests to shop from antique shops in the old city which are very close to the city palace. A large variety of clothes, miniature paintings, handicrafts and leather goods are available. One can easily bargain and get a good deal for a few items.
