A cozy room in a heritage home(breakfast included)

The room we are offering is cozy and has an attached bathroom- both elegant and well- appointed (neither is large). It lies along an inner, plant-lined courtyard of a beautiful heritage home built in 1949, right in the heart of Lucknow. We love meeting nice people...that is the reason we have opened our home and hearts to you ! As a courtesy, we offer breakfast without charge from the morning after your arrival - we want you to start your day on a happy note ! The space After passing through the passageway with its glossy red oxide floors you arrive at the rear courtyard of the house. It is open to the skies and lined with flowering shrubs, vines and a guava tree. The cozy, charming room with its own little entrance way lies along this courtyard. It’s features are a pretty hand painted bed ( size : double bed) and an original Godrej cupboard from the 50s. With its window open, especially in the monsoon or winter, you can lie on the bed, look at the courtyard and its greenery and allow yourself to go back in time... There is, of course, a tea/coffee station in your entrance way - for you to use whenever you wish . Guest access The courtyard is lined with greenery and has an antique iron bed . You can sit here and take in the air and listen to chirping birds. The house has a deep verandah and a small garden in its front. It has bael, neem, lime and guava trees , plenty of shrubs and is flower-filled in the winter months . It has an ornamental pond with water lilies and indigenous aquatic plants. You can sit in the verandah, or, when the weather allows, in the garden . During your stay We are well travelled and are very happy to welcome you, our guests, and help you out with anything that you may need. We love people as does our energetic dog, Milo. But not to worry, we keep Milo away in a different room if you are not comfortable. Above all, ours is an old, heritage home- and feels that way ! Other things to note Our house is proudly 70 years old. Through 2013- 15 we undertook extensive conservation works to keep the house looking as it did when it was first constructed in 1949. There are parts in the house, though, that show their age. There are no new shiny marble floors, glossy chrome fittings or decorative false ceilings. The house ( or the room) is not palatial. We are happy to share our house with guests, who, like us, appreciate the beauty of the old. The room we offer is quiet and overlooks the courtyard. A water pump lies outside, near the room. It is switched on for about half an hour in the morning at around 7 am and in the evening at around 7pm. There might also be some soft sounds from the flat above where a small family lives . These might be the only sounds that could disturb guests. Once in a while, like in the rest of Lucknow, there are power outages. In the short period of time( usually 10 or 15 mins- sometimes half an hour)that there is a power cut, we have an invertor that allows you to still run one fan and one light bulb in the room. Milo, our dog, lives with us on the premises. He is very friendly(in fact, over friendly!) and is extremely happy to meet visitors . We do, however, keep him away in a room should guests so wish and let us know. We warmly welcome you, our guest ! P.S. Due to some reason we do not give out our room to residents of Lucknow .
