Terry Flats History: On January 4th, 1909 the property was conveyed by New York Realty Corp (Stratton) to Mary Jane Terry and Margaret Jenkins. Later, the property was conveyed from Margaret to Mary Jane and from Mary Jane to her husband Alfred Terry. Mr. and Mrs. Terry owned several buildings on the block that include 1602-04 Tower Ave, 1610-12 Tower Ave, 1600 Ogden Ave 1702 N 16th Street, two of which are no longer standing. In addition to the apartments they ran the Terry Piano Co. and a furniture store. Their daughter was a piano and vocal teacher in 1935 through sometime in the 40’s. After Alfred passed away in the late 1940’s the property was left to his daughter Mary Elizabeth (Terry) Kardon who sold the building in 1980. The building had fallen into serious disrepair by 2005, the renovation was extensive and took years to complete. Too often these buildings are beyond repair and are destroyed. This one was close to that... I am excited to share the results with you! Guest access The guests have access to the entire unit, the laundry room on the 2nd floor, and the courtyard next to the building. Other things to note Available for families, but crib, highchair, etc. not provided. Property is also not child proofed. Apartment is on the third floor and accessed by stairs.
