The space This hand painted, traditional Mongolian yurt has a wonderfully secluded feel in its position at the head of three uninhabited valleys. 19' diameter, furnished with a (made up) double and single bed. 2 small mattresses can be pulled out from under the beds for children - for which you will need to bring bedding. A basket of wood is provided for the woodburner inside - further baskets can be bought for £8 each. There is a pile of wood we have collected that you can saw up for your fire pit. Tea lights are provided for lighting. (There is no electricity) The yurt is in its own little enclosure with a fire pit which you can cook over and where you can sit to unwind at the end of the day. Cooking and dining in a wonderfully converted old school bus with kitted out kitchen - about 50 metres away. This will be shared with guests from the other yurt on site. There are loos and hot showers in the farmyard. Friendly and unique - find seclusion, or become involved in the busy life of the small community with volunteers from all over the world. Traditional 17th century farmhouse, chapel. Hand milked jersey cows, cheesemaking, (may not be doing any in 2022) winemaking. 100 acre farm with sheep, highland cows, hens, woodlands, . For children the are streams to paddle in , a pond to fish for newts in, woods to explore, trampoline, croquet. This is not glamping but it is comfortable enough - bring your wellies and come back to the wild! We are involved in Cathedral archaeology, traditional crafts, building a stone age farm, tanning, natural building....and lots more! Our most recent project in the town centre 4 miles away is the building of a 'green hub/community centre. It features a café where you can get a simple lunch and lots of activities during the week. Guest access Visitors have the run of the farm and gardens and are welcome to use the space in the old chapel when there are no courses on. There is parking in our farm car park. Essential to have your own car as there is no public transport here. Other things to note The yurt is let out for a minimum of three nights - with changeovers on Mondays or Fridays. So please start your booking on one of these days. Fri - Mon or Mon - Fri or one week bookings are possible. During summer holidays the bookings will be for one week at a time, from Saturday - Saturday. We do not generally accept dogs as we have vulnerable animals. If you are convinced that your dog has no interest in sheep please ring us before your visit to discuss bringing one. We would require it to be on a lead on the farm.
