Chateau du Puy Tower Suites w/ Best views

Description

Escape to the luxurious Chateau du Puy, a 19th-century castle in the stunning Pays de Fayence region of Provence. Stay in the renovated top-floor apartment with Wabi Sabi decor and the best views of the region. Relax on the southern terrace and take in the breathtaking panoramic views of the Fayence valley. Welcome to heaven at the Chateau du Puy. The space In the beginning, we looked around but couldn't find the apartment we dreamt of, so we decided to build it ourselves. Each project represents a philosophy of transformation: embracing the passage of time to give old architecture a new life. This early 19th-century French Château was built by General Fabre, a military engineer who served under Napoleon. The French emperor sent him to Russia where he spent most of his military career as a civil engineer, building major military buildings throughout the country. After he retired, he returned to his native village Tourrettes in the Fayence region. As a notorious Russian art collector, he built this castle on the top of the hills of Tourrettes to have enough space for his Russian art. After he passed away some 200 years ago with his castle almost finished, the place became a ruin. In the 1960s, a Belgian and Waterloo-based lawyer, Georges Hermans, learned about the unfinished story of the Château du Puy. He became so fascinated by it, that he finished the work of the early 19th-century General by the early 1970s. There is nowadays even an informative website of chateaudupuy in development launched by the co-owners Pete Sodermans and Krista Touquet, explaining what you can expect of staying at this French castle. This chateau is about the beauty of age and imperfection. Time itself becomes the artist because it can transform things. What's missing in the new is often a story. There are no cuts, no traces of use, no damage. But time oxidizes things and gives the material a new skin. That makes staying with us such a unique experience. The castle is nowadays a privately owned condominium, often passed on from generation to generation. Only a couple of the apartments in the castle have a private and fully secluded terrace, like this apartment. What makes this historic 100 square meter top-floor duplex historic apartment so attractive is that it comes with an additional private 15 square meter southern exposed sunroof deck in the castle's Western Tower. This whole top-floor apartment (like a true Eagles Nest) offers absolutely stunning and unparalleled views of the whole Pays de Fayence. The apartment is very bright. You'll see the sun coming up in the morning and can enjoy the sunset as well. Truly 360-degree views - perfect spot for photography. Some medieval castles had secret passages designed to enable the inhabitants to escape from an enemy siege. Here it is no different. We restored such a unique secret passage in our apartment, details shared when you check in. This historic apartment you will be staying in is fully renovated and upscaled in 2021. We turned it into a 5-star luxury accommodation in a complete overhaul project, while preciously respecting the historic character. These extensive renovation works bring all modern 21st-century comfort to the apartment one can expect when staying in a castle, while carefully respecting the spirit of the ancient. The newly designed interior design of the apartment comes with Wabi Sabi elements. Wabi-Sabi doesn't look for perfection, contrary to the world we live in right now. The word 'wabi' means rustic simplicity and quietness, while 'sabi' alludes to the beauty and serenity that comes with time and age. This ancient Japanese philosophy, established in Zen Buddhism, encourages you to accept and enjoy life as it is. We are looking forward to welcoming you. We are paying for the Airbnb service fees, so you don't have an extra Guest access The Château du Puy is a condominium with several private apartments. As a guest, you will have access to the common areas of the castle, including the swimming pool and gardens. There is also a safe public parking lot in front of the entrance. The castle's sun deck at the Eastern Wing ( with the castle swimming pool) is a great spot to relax and enjoy the views. Many of the castle's occupants are aviation enthusiasts, who appreciate the beauty of the surrounding area. The Château du Puy is a rare and peaceful place, perfect for spending quality time with family and friends Other things to note The Château du Puy is a historic castle situated in a secluded and peaceful location, away from the hustle and bustle of tourist hotspots. The castle's occupants value the tranquility and rest that this place brings, and we ask that our guests respect this peaceful atmosphere. This is a perfect retreat for those seeking a peaceful and restful getaway.
