Story Book Cottage in the Heart of Paddington

A lovingly restored, aesthetically beautiful 1860s stone cottage smack bang in the middle of one of Sydney's most vibrant, cool and bustling inner suburbs, less than 5km from the Opera House and Bondi Beach! Stunning interiors curated with a designer’s eye for detail, all complemented by a divine fragrant walled garden. Bliss! The space Farthing Cottage has been renovated and decorated with you in mind. It's the product of asking our friends and family what they want in an Airbnb, the must haves and special touches that can make or break a holiday. We hope we have nailed it. The cottage is bathed in natural light. Literally. With French doors running the entire length of the south wall, the interiors are bright and beautiful, and overlook a walled garden planted with fragrant flowers, climbers and evergreens. The interior palette of cool blues, greys and crisp white is calming and serene, and beautifully complemented by comfortable yet practical soft furnishings and lovely little extras like fleece throws and magazines. And if you want to cook, you can. Farthing Cottage is well equipped with all the essentials you need to make dinner at home, from sharp knives and a hand mixer to a sandwich press and a pancake pan. We want you to feel comfortable and relaxed. And because we've never been able to find a holiday house where we could bring along our much loved Golden Retriever, we will consider your request to bring your pet on holiday with you. We understand the importance of the human/pet relationship, and will do our best to accommodate you and your pet. Guest access Guests access the cottage using a key safe to obtain the key to the front gate. Once inside the property, access to the cottage is via a touch key pad entry system. Other things to note Farthing Cottage welcomes children, and the majority of the house is on the ground level with easy access to the garden. Having said that, the main bedroom is located on the first floor and parents should be aware that the stairs to the first floor are narrow, steep and winding and do not have a child proof gate installed. A high chair is available for younger children and there are stools for use at the folding table in the kitchen and outside. The second bedroom contains a King furniture sofa bed which is very comfortable and equivalent to a small single bed. It is a small bedroom with a sliding barn door and no locks. It would be best suited to a child or a guest who is happy with a smaller bed in a small room. There are also automated block-out blinds on the windows. Please look carefully at the photographs so that you understand the size of the space and how it works. We do not want anyone to be disappointed. If you are 2 guests requiring both beds, you will need to let us know so that we can make sure the sofa bed is made up for your stay. Although there is free street parking available in the streets surrounding the cottage, this parking is timed for between one and 4 hours and is not always easy to find (depending of the time of day you are looking). The paid parking garage is very close, but will charge you fees each time you come and go with your car. It does not offer daily or weekly passes. If parking that is close and free and readily available is very important to you for your stay, Farthing Cottage may not be the right accommodation for you.
