AIR CONDITIONING This home has the benefit of split air conditioning units throughout the house. Please ensure all windows and outside doors are closed while the A/C's are in use to ensure they operate at maximum efficiency. Electricity is extremely expensive on the island so please turn the A/C units off when leaving. It only takes a few minutes to cool the place down. Thank-you. CEILING FANS High efficiency ceiling fans are installed throughout the home to help keep you cool. Each fan is operated via a wall switch and a remote. Kindly use the garden hose to rinse off sand before returning the equipment. Guest access Self check-in and checkout instructions will be sent to you 1 or 2 days prior to your arrival, along with directions to the home. There is an apartment downstairs that's also available for rent. Contact us if that's something you want. However, for your privacy, we do not rent out the apartment separately if the main house is occupied. You will have the property all to yourselves. If you need early check-in or a late checkout, please let us know. Most requests can be accomodated. Other things to note HIKING TRAILS This home is often used by folks interested in hiking our many trails on the east end. The first trailhead is just down the street and the second is a block or two away. Directions to the trailheads are located in the Guests' Manual at the house. Trailhead No. 1 –Primarily, this trail is used to visit Goat Hill, which gives you an incredible 360-degree view of the island and surrounding waters. The trek is an uphill climb but it’s well marked and only a one-mile hike. Unlike what our parents told us, it’s not uphill both ways, so coming back is much easier. Trailhead No. 2 - The second trailhead is just around the corner, which takes you to Jack and Isaac's Bay. These are two secluded beaches, often listed in the top ten best beaches in the world. POINT UDALL Point Udall is about 3 miles away. You can drive or walk to the location, passing by Kramer Park along the way. It sits and the far east end of the island and there’s something magical about watching the sunrise from there. Definitely, well worth getting up early to see. SNORKELING One of the very best snorkeling locations in the world is actually around the pier in Frederiksted. When cruise ships aren’t docked there, you can snorkel or scuba dive around the columns that support the pier. You’ll see schools of colorful fish and most likely a few sea turtles. Coral and starfish cling to the concrete columns as the sunlight easily reaches the bottom at 50-foot depths.
