Le Refuge is a small, semi-detached country cottage which offers a tranquil and private rustic holiday away from the noise and stress of the modern world. It is a place to escape to, where you can do what you like. Read or write books, paint, explore the area, hike or cycle, cook good meals, enjoy your own space or spend some quality time with your partner. At night there are no street lights in this tiny hamlet so you can see a myriad stars in the sky. Stay connected with our Internet access. The space This small semi-detached cottage is surrounded by old barns and garden walls. It has plenty of sun during the day. Access is through a private lane between ancient barn walls. Note this parking lane is not suitable for large trucks as street is quite narrow, normal vehicles and vans can easily park here. A small garden welcomes you. Step up to the cottage on a gentle ramp into the large 20 sq.m, glass and stone walled veranda which is a real sun trap. The wooden floor is made with oak from the local forest. Old fashioned armchairs wait for you to relax in. There is a 4 seater table for meals in the veranda. Some cards and board games are provided for your entertainment. Step into the open plan living room/ kitchen. A wood burning fireplace provides heat and romance in the cooler evenings. A grandfather clock and old dresser add character. The dining table takes centre place of this room for indoor meals. The kitchen area is fully equipped with cutlery and crockery. The modern amenities include a gas cooker, electric fridge/ freezer, a washing machine, kettle, toaster, iron and board, vacuum cleaner and cleaning equipment, French and English adaptor plugs. The bedroom has twin beds which can be pushed together. Bed linen, and towels are provided. The floor of the bedroom is polished chestnut. There are chests of drawers for storage and a hanging rail. The bedroom window opens onto the veranda. Old fashioned metal shutters can be closed for shade. As you lie in bed at night it is so quiet that you can hear the owls calling in the woods. At the far end of the bedroom is the compact bathroom where there is a shower, toilet and basin. There is a fixed line internet access to keep in touch with the world. We supply you with the password. Note mobile phone reception is difficult in the cottage due to the stone walls Guest access Guests have sole access and use of the cottage, veranda and small garden Other things to note Parking is on site in our alley between our barns. It is suitable for normal cars and vans, it is not suitable for trucks. No parking available on the narrow public road.
