Modern 4bed 2bath Vauxhall duplex w/garden
Description
A four-bedroom split-level garden flat, recently renovated to a high standard. It's the perfect base for families or groups of friends who want to explore central London: you can walk to Big Ben in 20 minutes. If you need to go further you can take the underground at Vauxhall or Kennington (both within 10 mins walk from the flat). Very comfortable for up to 6 people, but can easily accommodate up to 8 people Hope you like it! The space The flat is in a low-raise apartment block, built in the 60's and with concrete walls and floors which make it well insulated and very quiet. It's been recently renovated to a high standard (summer 2017) and it feels clean and welcoming inside. The flat is compact (about 90 square meters), but with a good layout. It will be very comfortable for up to 6 people, but can easily accommodate 8. Three of the bedrooms are good size double rooms, comfortable for two people. The fourth bedroom is smaller, but has a double bed and could accommodate one or two people. The open plan kitchen / living area is proportionally smaller, and it would feel tight for anything more than 4/5 people at a time. See below for details Location is ideal for visiting Central London: very close to the river Thames (5 minutes walk along Black Prince Road), Big Ben (20 mins walk, you could clearly hear the bells in the evening, before they were stopped for renovation) and Trafalgar Square (30 mins walk, across either Lambeth or Westminster bridge). For attractions further away there are 3 underground stations within 10 mins walk (Vauxhall, Kennington and - slightly further - Lambeth North), a bus stop just outside the flat (local line 360), and buses to Central London (159 and 3) 5 min walk from the flat. Also Vauxhall Railway station is an important stop for most trains covering south-west London The detailed layout of the flat is as follows - on the first floor: * Master bedroom: 4.5m x 2.6m, king size bed (160 cm wide), large built-in wardrobe. Note: All bedrooms are provided with new, good-quality mattresses (Ikea Hessing, firm) and bedding * Double bedroom: 4.8m x 2.4m, king size bed (160 cm wide), built-in wardrobe * Single bedroom: 2.8m x 2.1m, double bed (140 cm wide), small built-in wardrobe * Main bathroom: wash-basin, toilet and bathtub Ground floor: * Double bedroom: 3.5m x 2.8m, king size bed (160 cm wide), wardrobe * Shower / utility room: wash-basin, toilet, shower, integrated washer-dryer * Open plan kitchen / living: 4.8m x 3.8m, modern kitchen with fridge-freezer, dishwasher, induction hob, oven and microwave, dining table, three-seater sofa and flat screen TV. The living area includes a small fully glazed extension, and opens through sliding doors to a welcoming private rear patio garden, perfect to relax in the evening (weather permitting!) Again, note that the open plan living space is comfortable, but may feel compact for more than 4 / 5 people. Also note that the block façade is scheduled to be redecorated early 2018, and so it's currently surrounded by a large scaffolding. This interferes somewhat with the garden, but should be removed by end if June 2018. Guest access All areas in the apartment are open for guest access Other things to note How to get to the flat If you come by public transport you should go to Vauxhall Station, and walk from there (about 10 minute walk) From Gatwick Airport - by train. This is generally the fastest way. Take Southern to Clapham Junction, then change platform to take any trains to Waterloo that stop at Vauxhall. Not cheap: £16 per person one way, or £24 return, and would take 45 mins to 1 hour to get to the flat from the airport. Alternatively you can take Gatwick Express to Victoria, then underground from Victoria to Vauxhall. It will be more expensive, and probably slower, but it's an option if no other trains are available. From Gatwick Airport - by taxi: a pre-booked taxi service can be a good option for larger groups, about £55 one way for for up to 4 people, £85 for 5 people, £115 for 8 people. It's slower (75 to 90 minutes), but will probably easier and more comfortable than train, especially if carrying luggage. A transfer service that seems to get good reviews is Jewell Airport Transfers (although I haven't used it myself) From Heathrow Airport - by Underground. Take Piccadilly Line to Central London, change at Green Park for Victoria Line to Vauxhall. It takes about 1 hour 30 minutes, and cost will be about £6 per person one way. You could also take Heathrow Express to Paddington, then change to Bakerloo and Victoria lines, but this is will be only marginally quicker, and a lot more expensive. From Heathrow Airport - by taxi. A pre-booked taxi service would cost £65 for up to 4 people, £75 for up to 5, and £95 for up to 8 people, and take about 45 minutes to 1 hour. London Heathrow Cars service seems to get good reviews From Stansted Airport - by train and underground. Take Stansted Express to Tottenham Hale (North London), then change to Victoria Line to Vauxhall. It costs £18 for the train + £2 for the underground, one way, and takes about 1 hour 30 minutes. From Luton Airport - by train and underground. Generally take ThamesLink trains to Central London, and change at either Kings Cross for Victoria Line to Vauxhall, or Kentish Town for Northern Line to Kennington. Takes about 1 hour 30 minutes, and costs about £17 each way for the train, plus £2.5 for the underground
