It is suitable for anyone looking for a rustic, clean and comfortable experience. As we can sleep up to 8 people and have 3 bathrooms, there is ample space for larger groups, but it is not too big for a smaller number of people or anyone traveling alone. We are nestled right on the bank of the Waiau River, where you can see the water and beautiful beech forest from our lounge room and deck. There is also a path from our house that connects to a magical walking track which runs along the river and leads to the lake. A great walk to spot bird life and hear there song. Our corrugated iron ensuite bathrooms and original kitchen and fireplace give it a very rustic feeling offering a wonderful lodge style holiday space with plenty of character. Our home is an original 1941 cottage with a touch of the old and new. Original wall paper in the lounge room and a blend of antique and modern furnishings create a wonderful balance to transform this once upon a time cottage into a rustic holiday lodge. Including creature comforts such as platinum linen on all of our beds, air-conditioning for both heating and cooling, heaters in each bedroom, fireplace, new kitchen appliances and a wonderful Breville coffee machine for the coffee lover, you are sure to love this space. PLEASE NOTE: * This is an historic 1941 cottage that has had a rustic renovation. Our home is furnished with clean and comfortable modern furniture and brand new quality appliances, the house itself however is not a contemporary dwelling. * In the warmer months of the year sandflys inhabit areas close to rivers and waterways which is a natural occurrence in New Zealand. Please be aware that you may encounter sandflys in the house. Its a good idea to avoid leaving lights on when not in use and when possible close doors and windows as much as you can to avoid them from coming inside. We have supplied a natural sandfly repellent and body oil for your use and comfort. Please fell free to use these products.
