Private Apt. in Historic Home - Near UC, Hospitals
Description
Whether you're a Cincinnati history buff, a visiting UC parent, or simply looking for a cozy, safe retreat during your stay in our fair city - this bright and sunny, private studio with full-room sleeping loft, kitchenette, open living area and full bath in our historic Mt. Auburn home is waiting to welcome you. With private, off-street parking and access to a large covered porch and backyard, you'll be close to the UC campus, Christ and Children's Hospitals, OTR & downtown Cincinnati. #95797 The space With quick access to everything that Cincinnati has to offer, the historic Gorham A. Worth House is the gem of Mt. Auburn, and was *the* original farmhouse that occupied the surrounding acreage before the property was subdivided into the neighborhood as it exists now - tucked quietly between Christ Hospital and the University of Cincinnati campus. PLEASE NOTE: The sleeping loft is accessible up a very secure library ladder. We ourselves, friends, family, and guests have had no issues going up or down the ladder. However, it is our policy that small children not be permitted to climb the ladder or be in the loft area without supervision. The original structure was built in 1819, and the two towers were added in 1860 by the McGregor family, for whom the surrounding streets are named. Your quiet, fully-equipped studio apartment sits in the Northern tower of the house and boasts a main room with a flat-screen television and Amazon Fire TV stick for watching Netflix, Amazon video and more. The room also includes a dining area with breakfast bars and other snacks; a kitchenette with an apartment-sized fridge and freezer, cooking burners, toaster oven, microwave, sink, and coffee and tea service. Off of the kitchen lies a full bath with all of the essentials and amazing water pressure. The sleeping loft is open to the rest of the apartment and boasts built-in bookshelves, a Queen-size bed with loads of pillows and an extremely comfortable pillow-top mattress, a dormer window, and a huge skylight that looks up at the starry sky over the backyard (the skylight also has a heavy-duty window covering to keep the room dark when you like). If more sleeping space is needed, the mid-century couch / day bed in the main room is easily converted to a full-size twin bed by removing the upholstered covers. New bed linens, quilt and extra pillow are provided in the bed's built-in drawers. Guest access Our property's driveway is at the intersection of McGregor Ave & Auburncrest Ave. If coming from McGregor Ave, the driveway is immediately on the right, and there is an address marker topped with a light at the end of the driveway. After parking off-street in the house's large circle drive, you'll enter your private living space through a secure entrance and coat room off of the covered back porch. You are welcome to enjoy coffee or tea on the back porch outside the apartment door, watch the goldfish in our lily pond during warm weather, or in cooler weather, warm yourself in the evenings around our chiminea outdoor fireplace. We do ask that you not attempt to enter the home through any door but the apartment entrance. As shown in most of the pictures of our listing and mentioned multiple times in our "The Space" section of Title & Description, a library style ladder leads to the sleeping loft with a queen sized bed and should be noted for anyone with mobility concerns. Other things to note For those who have stayed with us before, we're saddened to share that our sweet dog, Loki, passed away in June of 2022, just shy of his 15th birthday. Please know he LOVED visiting with you as much as you enjoyed fawning over him. In August of 2023, a new pup entered our lives - a 1-year-old named Tempest. She is very sweet but sometimes forgets that she may see new people in the yard, so she may bark (but then rolls over for a belly rub!). Please let us know if you’d like us to keep her out of the yard during your stay when possible and we will do our best to honor that. We do ask that you make sure to close the gates to the yard behind you each time you enter and exit. As shown in most of the pictures of our listing and mentioned multiple times in our "The Space" section of Title & Description, a library style ladder leads to the sleeping loft with a queen sized bed.
