Charming & cosy retreat for 2 - The Bakehouse

The Bakehouse at Caman House dates from 1900 and is a beautiful old stone barn, and once upon-a-time a bakers-shop - lovingly restored by us, creating a cosy and unique little home from home, respecting the story of the building, using local materials like timber & stone. Like our other Where Stags Roar properties, it has a wood burning stove, and high-quality, stylish furnishings. In the Cairngorms National Park. Double bed and single sofa bed for flexible sleeping arrangements. max 2. The space The Bakehouse at Caman House sleeps 2 and is a beautiful play to stay in a countryside setting. In the bedroom (16 sq m) there is a double bed and single sofa bed for flexible sleeping arrangements for a maximum of 2 guests. Upon entering The Bakehouse, the open plan living room/kitchen-diner is bright and airy. It has an inviting wood burner, feature stone hearth and high-standard fixtures and fittings. There's a large wall mounted smart TV with freesat (various streaming services are available with your own log-ins) dvd player and fast wifi. The kitchen area has a dishwasher, washing machine, full oven, microwave, double hob, fridge-freezer, and sink with drainer. There is electric heating throughout (plus the woodburning stove). The large bathroom has a shower, wash hand basin and WC, and a heated towel rail. The spacious double bedroom, which has practical details like individual flexible bedside reading lights and USB sockets, also has a comfortable sofa bed for flexible sleeping arrangements - ie 1 double bed and 1 single sofa bed (maximum of 2 guests in total) so that it suits both couples or those who need two separate beds. Patio doors from the living space open onto a small decked area outside with gate (so its enclosed and dog friendly). Portable bluetooth speakers are provided. Small but perfectly formed The Bakehouse is beautifully intimate and carefully designed with all of the amenities of a larger dwelling. (Total space 42 sq m). If you like the tiny house and mini-lodge vibe then you'll love the cosiness, but have much more room! This property is detached and stands in the grounds of Caman House, so they can be booked together to accommodate six people. The lawned garden area is shared with the two other apartments that make up Caman House - please see photos for further information. Access on foot via the driveway (which is shared with our neighbour). There is an Asgard 4-bike cycle-storage unit in the grounds; this can be booked by either guests staying at Apartment 2 or The Bakehouse. Please contact us to check availability and reserve (free). Once the 4-bike secure storage is booked by either party, it is then for their exclusive use only. Newtonmore is at the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. Fabulous hiking straight from the door for all abilities, mountain bike trails, wild swimming in our local river and lochs, dozens of top visitor attractions nearby including the Highland Wildlife Park, Landmark, The Highland Folk Museum, Dalwhinnie distillery, Cairngorm Mountain - plus it's a fab base for days out further afield, such as Braemar, Inverness & Loch Ness, Pitlochry, Fort William and Ben Nevis, Glenfinnan and many more; the geographic centre of Scotland is marked by a stone nearby, so you couldn't be better located if you plan to see more of the Highlands. Guest access This property is detached and stands in the grounds of Caman House - The garden area is the only part that is shared with the two other apartments that make up Caman House - please see photos for further information. The small deck is private just for you and enclosed with some privacy screening. There's a rotary washing line/airer in the garden during the summertime (shared). There is a recessed parking bay (free) on the Main Street, plus plenty more free parking available nearby too - peaceful small Highland village. (Please don't pull into the narrow driveway at the side for unloading as it is a shared access for our neighbours too, parking and unloading is at the front only - thanks; this is very close for any luggage unloading. Parking is strictly not permitted at the rear). (The little cafe opposite relies on passing trade, so please avoid parking right in front of that premises to help them, and to help us keep our relationships cordial with them - much appreciated) The EV charger is at the rear of the property. Other things to note 1 well behaved dog only welcome and free - please let us know if you plan to bring a pet. The dog must not be left alone in the property. Please do not allow your dog up on the beds or sofa/soft furnishings - thank you Please note that our check-in time is 4pm (or anytime after as there is a self-check-in key box) and CHECK OUT by 10am at the latest - thank you for your understanding and for not arriving at the property before 4pm. Most of our changeovers are 'same-day' but we'll message you if we are able to be ready for you any earlier - there are local cafes and things to sight-see if you do arrive in the area ahead of these timings. We hope you understand why we need to adhere to strict check-out timings - we need this time for cleaning and we are committed to making your stay as safe and pleasant as possible.
