Description

A very secluded cottage set on a beautiful private lake in Elgin, Ontario. No public access to this lake, located on Crow Lake. Experience great hiking, water, and excellent fishing in fresh air while surrounded by woodlands and rivers that only a few have enjoyed. Updated interior with queen bed and two twins + sofa bed. Outdoor hot/cold shower and outhouse toilet. Kayaks available for use at own risk, bring your own life jackets. Pre cut firewood and extra fuel at added costs. The space The Space: This is a peaceful atmosphere, great fishing, stargazing, and nature. Great for a couple's getaway, a family, or a group of travelers. A very private location on your own waterfront bay of the lake. There is only two other cabins on this entire lake. The Cabin: A waterfront cabin with all the basic amenities (running lake water for an outdoor hot/cold shower and dishes, an outhouse - no indoor bathroom, along with a propane lights, cooking stove, fridge, and bbq). The water is filtered from the lake but not drinkable water - bring your own bottles. The cabin sleeps 4 (one queen, two twins) comfortably unless you want to add an additional guest on the couch sofa bed. You can also pitch a tent nearby but we ask extra guests staying in tents or campers are discussed. Extra fuel charges for the generator may be required for this. Outside of the cabin, there is a fire-pit, a picnic table, a dock and a BBQ. You can cut up firewood off the surrounding land from fallen trees but if you want pre cut firewood or wood for the wood stove there is a local supplier who can drop off a load ranging from $40-$80 cash depending on quantity and type of wood (wood stove wood for the cold season is more expensive than pre-cut camp fire wood). You should let us know you want this dropped off prior to your arrival. One set of linens per stay, soap, towels, pillows provided. In the living room, there is a couch and recliner, a wood stove, as well as a few games, TV and DVDs (no cable or Internet though). Books for reading on a rainy afternoon are in the bedroom dresser. The generator is the only source of electricity to use running water and charge electronics. The running hot/cold water inside cabin or for the shower is only usable while the generator is turned on so that the water pump and hot water tank can operate. It must be turned off manually when not in use to conserve fuel. The fridge, stove, and lights all operate via propane 24/7 with no connection to the generator, as does the BBQ. Reasonable use of the generator will not result in any extra charges, only excessive use (running it for over 2.5 hours each day). Kayaking/Boating/Fishing: Kayaks are present to use at your own risk. We do not supply life jackets and are not liable for any injury arising from kayak use. You should bring your own life jackets to use the kayaks safely. Damage to the kayaks or paddles will be charged so guests should handle them with care. Fishing and boating is permitted at your own risk. We are not liable for any injuries associated. There is live bait in the nearby town. Boat launch is available at this cabin. Boating license required by operator of the boat and you must use your own life jackets. Surrounding Land: There is a private “swimming hole” a ten minute walk from the cottage so guests may enjoy the lake in an area free of weeds and algae - entirely rock in this area. Or you can jump in right off the dock! We advise guests to wear bug spray and covered clothing if venturing into the woods to avoid ticks at certain times of year especially. You may also want to use tic treatment on your pets depending on the time of year. Privacy: We may need to stop by once or twice throughout your stay to check on the generator as required but the generator is outside of the cabin in the woods, or if anything else arises that you request us to attend for. Nearby Towns/Cities: The cabin is a short drive from Kingston (35 minutes), Gananoque and the Thousand Islands (20 minutes), and Elgin (20 minutes). Local attractions include the Historic Jones Falls Locks, hiking at Rock Dunder, the Delta Mill, and Charleston Lake Provincial Park. Guest access Guest access: Lake, cottage, hiking in woods and trails, swimming area, dock and boat launch, fire pit Other things to note Stores close earlier around here so you may want to pick up groceries and supplies on your way. The nearby town does have a liquor and grocery store, as well as a local restaurant. Other things to note: The propane fridge and freezer are a bit smaller in comparison to large home fridges so consider this when grocery shopping. Bring your own water to drink/cook. Please read the description fully. There is NO indoor bathroom. Reasonable use of the generator for electricity is a must.
