Outside, enjoy countryside views, an enclosed garden, and your own private hot tub. The space Hawthorn Cottage is a Grade II listed ‘chocolate box’ thatched cottage set within the beautiful Cheshire countryside — a truly romantic escape steeped in history and character. Your stay is designed to be relaxed and contact-free, with private access to both the cottage and its grounds. Outside, enjoy an enclosed garden with a traditional well, courtyard seating, and a private hot tub housed in its own gazebo. Robes, towels, and disposable slippers are provided so you can travel light and unwind from the moment you arrive. Scenic country walks begin right on the doorstep, with Bidlea Dairy ice cream farm just a short stroll away and welcoming country pubs nearby. Inside, the cottage is rich with original features, including oak beams and floors, a cosy inglenook fireplace, and a rare listed cranked staircase that adds to its unique charm. As a heritage-listed property, these historic features cannot be altered. The staircase has low headroom and a winding, ladder-style design, so the cottage may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility. Guests who may find stairs challenging are encouraged to contact us before booking. Check-in is from 3pm, with departure by 10am, allowing us time to prepare the cottage to the highest standard for every guest. Guest access Guests have private access to Hawthorn Cottage along with exclusive use of the enclosed cottage garden and courtyard, complete with an original well and private hot tub for relaxing during your stay. The outdoor space is designed for making the most of the countryside setting, with outside dining furniture, a BBQ available for guest use, and loungers provided during the summer months — perfect for al fresco meals, sunny afternoons, or peaceful evenings under the stars. Other things to note Arrival & Departure Your stay at Hawthorn Cottage is designed to be a relaxed, contact-free experience. Guests may arrive anytime from 3pm on the day of arrival, with departure by 10am on your final day. This schedule allows us to prepare the cottage to the highest standards for every guest. We can only allow a maximum occupancy of 2 guests. Unfortunately small children and babies cannot be included in addition to the maximum occupancy of 2 guests. Lead booking guest must be over 18 years of age. Accompanying guest must be over 16. Cleanliness & Care We take cleanliness extremely seriously. The cottage is cleaned using commercial-grade disinfectants, with extra attention given to high-touch areas such as door handles, switches, and furnishings. All laundry is commercially washed at 90°C, and cleaning products are provided should guests wish to freshen up during their stay. We do not charge a cleaning fee. We kindly ask guests, if time allows, to wash, dry, and put away all crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, strip the bed linen, and empty the fridge prior to departure. Hot Tub Information To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests, the hot tub is subject to the following guidelines: • Guests must shower before use • Maximum occupancy: 2 persons • No children under 16 permitted • No oils, creams, fake tan, or similar products • No food, smoking, or glassware in or near the hot tub (plastic glasses provided) • Replace and secure the lid when not in use • Maximum use of 1 hour at a time, with at least a 1-hour break between sessions • Guests must read and sign the Hot Tub Safety Disclaimer before use For hygiene reasons, the hot tub is completely emptied, thoroughly cleaned, sanitised, and refilled between every stay. This means it may not have reached its optimal temperature of 39°C at check-in, particularly during colder months. By confirming your booking, you acknowledge that the hot tub may still be heating on arrival. Cottage Guidelines • No candles or naked flames permitted due to insurance requirements. Strictly no smoking or vaping inside or around the cottage. Rural Setting The cottage sits beside working farm fields, so you may occasionally see farm machinery in operation. Muck spreading may take place a few times each year; we aim to notify guests whenever possible, though timings are not always within our control.
