Behind the Lodge is a private, secluded garden with table, bench and chairs. Guest access The Lodge has its own private garden with access to the meadow, which is part of the property. This extends for several hundred yards along the river, which is reputed to be the most beautiful in the UK. Other things to note A 10 minute walk from the Lodge is a very good pub/restaurant and across from that is a tasty coffee shop serving light meals. There are some excellent restaurants within a short drive. A friendly Village shop in Boughrood has most necessities and 5 minutes away by car is a petrol station/shop open 24 hrs. There are many lovely walks: along the Wye River, or up in the hills, through woods, or around the Village, and more. Ty Melin is Welsh for Mill House, where we live. It’s set in a roughly four acre estate running along the upper section of the Wye River in the village of Boughrood, just off the A497. The Welsh name of the village is Bochrwyd, which means ‘small ford’. This part of the river is a renowned fishing beat on the upper Wye, called the Rectory Beat (see Sally’s guide to fishing). The Lodge, which is available for short term rentals via ABnB is on the estate, which has an interesting history. Sally and Richard who own it have lived here for some 20 years and have invested significantly in developing it to where it is today. The estate can be divided into four distinct sections: the drive on entering the property, the Mill, the Lodge, and the river Parkland.
