Description

Escape to our handcrafted Grain Store Yurt on the edge of our woodlands in South Somerset. Nestled on the edge of 3-acres of wild Woodland, our little hideaway is the most beautiful, peaceful place to relax. It's an ideal off-grid experience for anyone seeking the peace of a digital detox or couples on a romantic adventure. The space Our Grain Store Yurt is on the edge of a woodland glade, full of beautiful flora, fauna and wildlife. You're welcome to explore our 3 acres of woodland and open field, we've even set up some benches and stargazing points for you to discover! The yurt and woodland kitchen have all been hand-crafted by Tom Dunbar, a Master Thatcher and proper craftsman. Inside the Yurt, you'll find a comfortable double bed and romantic fairy lighting. Traditionally handcrafted, the yurt will stay lovely and cool on hot days and retain warmth on cool nights. There are also extra blankets and hot water bottles for colder evenings. Try some rustic cooking on the campfire or on the stove in the woodland kitchen. Pans and griddles are all provided. We even have marshmallows for you to toast whilst you enjoy stargazing! The woodland kitchen has a gas camping stove with a grill and a solar-powered fridge. It is well-stocked with crockery, cutlery and utensils. It looks a little like a raised hobbit-hole! There's a covered seating area (in case of wet weather) with a picnic bench. We've even included some books and games for you to enjoy. There's also a wash station in the covered deck area and a solar-powered shower. The water is heated over the fire or stove, and the solar panel powers the pump, once the water is ready. Canvas screens surrounded the shower for complete privacy. We'll provide lovely, local soap and towels. A great off-grid experience! Keeping with our sustainable ethos, we've got a compost toilet! It's been handcrafted (again) by Tom Dunbar into a beautiful woodland archway. Our land is close to footpaths and bicycle routes, plus the River Parrett Trail. There are good local pubs for drinks and evening meals. Read more in our nearby section or ask us, we'd be happy to help. Keep an eye out for all the local wildlife, including Tawny owls, many birds, butterflies, dragonflies and busy-bees. Guest access During your stay, you will have exclusive use of the Grain Store Yurt, woodland kitchen, campfire, picnic area and close-by compost toilet. Parking is available near our house with a short walk (300m) across a field and through woods to the Grain Store Yurt. We'll provide a wheelbarrow for you to easily transport any luggage. If the weather has been rainy, we'd recommend bringing wellies! Guests with limited mobility are welcome to drive up the track and park close to the roundhouse. You will need to bring your supper (unless you're eating out) but all crockery, utensils and firewood are provided. Breakfast is included. Your breakfast hamper and fridge will contain lovely things such as homemade bread, a choice of cereals and local apple juice. We also have a solar panel, which powers the lighting, charging points and shower. If required, additional water, 240v electricity points and broadband internet access are available by our house. If you need anything else, please get in touch. We're very happy to help. Other things to note In case of wet weather, there is a two-burner gas camping stove with a grill in the woodland kitchen. Also good for boiling the kettle without having to wait for the campfire to get going! Children can stay if you book both the grain store yurt and our thatched roundhouse together. Please see our separate listing or get in touch to discuss. There is also space on the floor of the roundhouse to make up beds for children, or you're welcome to borrow our travel cot.
