Sir Stuarts House, Fingask Castle, Rait

Our place is approximately half way between Perth and Dundee, 1 hour from Edinburgh and 1hr 15 mins from Glasgow. A large house that sits on the side of the lake, the house is ideal for families, larger groups, or smaller groups who need separate bedrooms, and well behaved pets. There are 6 bedrooms - 1 double room, 4 twin rooms and 1 room to be used as a small sitting room or a bedroom with one day bed and an occasional camp bed. Pets are welcome - please do not leave them alone for long. The space Sir Stuarts House is set on the side of an unfenced lake. There is step free access into the main entrance of the house. The ground floor mostly comprises a large and comfortable open plan kitchen, dining and lounge space. The kitchen is fully fitted out with an electric Aga style cooker with oven and hob, large American style fridge and a small chest freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer, kettle, microwave and toaster. The lounge/dining room has an open fire, tv and dvd player. There is wifi throughout the house - please bear in mind our country location means that wifi is not super fast. Logs for the fire are supplied from the estate and stored in the log store in the back garden. There is a downstairs loo with hand basin. There is one ground floor double bedroom which is a generous size and has an ensuite shower room. Upstairs are five rooms. Three twin bedrooms with ensuite shower rooms, toilet and hand basins. One twin bedroom with adjacent full bathroom. The fifth room can be used as a bedroom or a sitting room. It has a single daybed and an occasional 'camp bed' that can be set up on request. This room is next to a full (shared) bathroom. In addition to the main house there is the Bothy which sits in the back garden. This is a private space, only available to those using Sir Stuart's House. It consists of a twin bedroom with ensuite facilities - shower, toilet and hand basin. A small desk/table area with tv. The use of the Bothy allows up to 14 people to be accommodated. **If the Bothy is required please contact us to discuss** Outside there are gardens on all sides of the house with the lake at the front. It is an unfenced lake, children MUST be supervised. In the garden to the side of the house is a patio area with seating area. Sir Stuarts House has its own car parking area approximately 100 metres from the house. There is a small traditional bridge to walk over to reach the house. Please do not attempt to drive over the bridge, there is a hand cart in the foyer for transporting luggage to and from the car park. Motorised wheelchairs are permitted to use the bridge. Guest access Guests are welcome to stroll around the grounds which were first laid out in the 17th Century by the ancestors of the present owner. Please respect the families privacy and avoid the area immediately around the Castle. We have at Fingask a games room with a full sized snooker table, table tennis and table football. The pool is heated and open from Easter till October or when it becomes too cold, it is outdoors! Next to the pool is the tennis court, raquets are available for loan from the office. Other things to note If there is a wedding taking place during your stay, we ask that you please respect the bride and groom and avoid the area in front of the Castle and the Pavilion. Other areas of the gardens are open for your enjoyment. Thank you
