A large oak dining table seats 12 for group meals, while comfortable sofas gather around a cozy wood-burning fireplace. Smart TV, fast Wi-Fi, and a well-stocked bookshelf complete the space. Kitchen Fully equipped modern kitchen with induction range, oven, microwave, dishwasher, Nespresso machine, and everything you need to prepare meals for your group. Bathrooms: Three full bathrooms (one en-suite, two shared) plus one separate toilet. Modern fixtures, good water pressure, plenty of hot water. Outdoor Spaces: • South& east-facing L-shaped balcony with mountain views • Private garden with sloping meadows • BBQ area (electric + wood-fire, subject to seasonal fire restrictions) • Private sauna deck Family-Friendly: Baby beds (2 available), high chairs (2), washing machine & dryer, toys, games, puzzles, Lego, building blocks. Our custom bunk beds are particularly popular with kids. Ski Convenience: Free heated ski lockers at the Trabanta chairlift (200m away) — officially fits 8 pairs but can squeeze 12 with effort. Store your gear overnight, walk to the lift light. This is a high-demand amenity we're happy to provide. Sustainable: Runs on 100% renewable energy (hydroelectric + solar panels). We believe alpine beauty is worth protecting for future generations. Guest access What You'll Have Access To: You'll have exclusive use of the entire three-story chalet including all living spaces, five bedrooms, three bathrooms, kitchen, private sauna with outdoor deck, balcony, garden, and terrace. Important Access Information — Please Read Carefully: Getting to the Chalet: The chalet is accessed via a 2-3 minute uphill walk from parking along a footpath with some steps. You'll need to carry luggage and groceries along this path each time. • ✓ Manageable for most people with normal mobility (take multiple trips if needed) • ⚠️ Challenging with baby strollers (possible but awkward) • ⚠️ Not suitable for guests with mobility impairments — if you or anyone in your group has difficulty with stairs, balance issues, or limited mobility, please contact us before booking to discuss whether this property will work for you In winter, the walk can take 3-5 minutes depending on snow depth. The path is cleared during ski season, but expect occasional snow accumulation and at times icy conditions. Ice spikes for shoes are provided. Terrain & Safety Considerations: The chalet sits on a slope with a steep drop-off in front (toward the valley). Small children must be supervised outdoors at all times. The garden has beautiful sloping meadows, but they're steep in places. Inside the chalet: • No child safety gates on stairs • Balcony opens directly to garden (no barrier) • Multiple levels with stairs between floors If you're traveling with young children, please be prepared for active supervision. Neighbors & Privacy: While Le Iceberg is a stand-alone chalet, there are neighboring properties: • One chalet below/in front (mostly out of sight due to slope) • One chalet above/behind However, the property feels pleasantly private and secluded because: • Main sightlines face the valley and forest, not neighbors • You're surrounded by garden, forest, and meadows • Your own 800m² plot provides space and separation • Views are unobstructed and spectacular You'll have genuine privacy while knowing help is nearby if needed. Village Access: From the chalet, it's a 5-10 minute walk (partly uphill) to Les Collons village center where you'll find: • Supermarket, bakery, post office • Restaurants, bar/cafés (seasonal) • Sport shops — you get 10% discount on rentals as our guest • Trabanta chairlift (200m from chalet, 6-minute walk) • Thermal baths (Thermes de Dixence) are located a 5 minutes-walk below the chalet. The village is low-key and practical rather than resort-style or quaint— perfect for outdoor enthusiasts seeking authentic alpine living. Parking Details: Summer: • 1 car in garage below chalet (2-minute walk up to chalet) • Additional cars: free parking on village street (3-minute walk back down) Winter: • 1 car in garage below chalet (3-minute walk up through snow) • 2nd car: reserved spot on village street (4-8 minute walk back depending on snow) • Additional cars: public parking lot outside village (12-minute walk back) Self Check-in: We use a lockbox system — you can check in whenever you arrive. Standard check-in time is after 4:00 PM (flexible when possible). We'll send detailed arrival instructions and parking directions before your stay. Questions About Access? We understand the walk and terrain aren't for everyone. If you have specific concerns about whether this property will work for your group, please message us before booking. We're happy to provide more details, photos of the access path, or advice on alternatives if needed. Our goal is for you to arrive prepared and have a wonderful stay. Other things to note Getting Here: By Car: Highway to Sion, then 20km mountain road & short unpaved road up to garage. By Public Transport: Train to Sion → bus to Les Collons (or taxi/rental car) Closest airport: Geneva. Other airports: Zürich, Basel, Bern, Milan. Getting Around: Winter: walking distance to chair lift, shops, restaurants & services, thermal baths. If you're happy to carry your groceries, there is really no need for a car. Spring, Summer & Autumn: several hiking & MTB trails start right at your doorstep, but a car will expand your range of options. Winter Driving & Seasonal Considerations: Winter Travel Requirements: • Winter tires mandatory in winter conditions (typically late November through April) • Snow chains highly recommended — roads are plowed but conditions change quickly, especially late afternoons or during snowfall • Swiss highway toll sticker (vignette) required for highways Seasonal Service Variations: Les Collons is a seasonal village. Many restaurants, shops, and lifts close outside peak periods: • Peak winter season: Mid-December to mid-April (most services open) • Peak summer season: July to mid-September (most services open) • Shoulder seasons: Spring and autumn (limited services, supermarket and thermal baths typically remain open) If you're visiting during shoulder seasons, please contact us to confirm which facilities will be available during your stay. Ski Season: Historically snow-reliable from mid-December to mid-April. Most skiing in Les 4 Vallées is above 1.800m with extensive snow-making. However, climate change is beginning to affect traditional patterns — while the area remains one of Switzerland's most reliable, conditions are less predictable than in the past. What's Included: • Bed linen for all beds (1 set per guest) • Bath towels (1 per guest) • Sauna towels (1 per guest) • Kitchen towels • Fair use of firewood for wood burner • Baby beds (2) and high chairs (2) • Toys, games, puzzles, Lego, building blocks • Ice spike attachments for shoes (winter) • Professional departure cleaning NOT Included: • Baby bedding (please bring sheets/blankets for baby beds) • BBQ charcoal or fondue fuel • Groceries and personal items Grocery Shopping: The village supermarket has limited hours and selection. We recommend arriving with basic supplies, especially if arriving late or on Sunday when most Swiss stores are closed. Sion (20km away) has larger supermarkets (Coop, Migros). Departure Requirements: While professional cleaning is included in your rental fee, we ask guests to: • Clean kitchen and empty dishwasher • Collect all bath and sauna towels, place in designated location (we'll show you) • Remove bed linen, place in designated location (we'll show you) • Take all trash and recycling to roadside containers (map provided in welcome folder) • Close all windows and doors This typically takes 20-30 minutes and helps us prepare for the next guests. Detailed checklist provided upon arrival. Quiet Hours: 22:00 to 08:00 — please be considerate of neighbors during these times. Sound travels in the mountains. Fire Safety: During dry summer conditions, fire bans may prohibit wood-fire BBQ use (electric BBQ always available). We'll inform you of any restrictions during your stay. Facilities & Activities: Winter (December-April): • Les 4 Vallées ski area: 375km of pistes, 72 lifts across Thyon, Veysonnaz, Nendaz, Verbier • Free heated ski lockers at Trabanta chairlift (code in welcome folder) • Ski schools available (we can provide recommendations) • Snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, winter hiking • Thermes de Dixence thermal baths (5-minute walk) Summer (May-October): • Hiking trails from chalet (all difficulty levels) • Mountain biking and e-MTB (rentals in village) • Swimming in alpine lakes and pools • Paragliding, rafting, horseback riding, climbing, golf • Cultural activities: quaint villages & medieval towns, festivals, markets, museums, wine tasting Year-Round: • Day trips to Zermatt & Matterhorn (90 min), Aletsch Glacier (75 min), Lake Geneva & Montreux (60/90 min) • Historic villages: Hérémence, Evolène • Thermal baths open daily Our Local Knowledge: We provide personalized recommendations, maps, trail guides, and insider tips in the welcome folder and are available throughout your stay to answer questions. We've been hosting since 2007 and spend as much time at the chalet as possible — we genuinely love sharing this region with our guests. Questions or Concerns? We believe in complete transparency. If anything in this listing is unclear or you have specific questions about whether this property is right for your group, please message us. We respond quickly (typically within a few hours) and prefer you ask before booking rather than have surprises upon arrival.
