Description

Get away from the ordinary! Enjoy a relaxing stay at Bullfrog Farm Bed & Breakfast now a Certified Wildlife Habitat! Gardens and truffle orchards are nestled in the forest only five minutes from the sea. Enjoy your breakfast as you watch birds and listen to them singing in chorus with clucking chickens who are busy weeding the orchards. Awaken each morning to the songbirds’ dawn chorus and be lulled to sleep each evening to the haunting song of the Swainson’s Thrush echoing in the woods. The space A separate entryway leads to a cozy private bedroom with a view of the gardens, a queen bed and a private bathroom and shower. A covered outdoor sitting area with a table for breakfast provides views of the garden and many active bird feeders. Many garden paths lead to seating areas with different views of the garden. This is a working truffle farm so in the morning there is watering and in the late afternoon eggs are collected from the 40 free range chickens busy weeding the truffle orchards. This farm is surrounded by Madrone and Fir trees and is also a Certified Wildlife Habitat! Private parking is provided directly in front of the main gate. Since this is a traditional Bed and Breakfast each morning you can look forward to savory egg dishes and local pastries along with fruit, granola, yogurt and farm fresh hard-boiled eggs, . There is a small fridge, a microwave, a toaster oven and a coffee maker for self-service and of course a tea kettle. Many types of tea are provided as well as a special afternoon Tea Time Treat to take with you on your daily adventures or enjoy on your private deck overlooking the gardens. Guest access Your reserved parking space is just outside the front gate, just a short walk from your room. During your stay Marjorie welcomes you, and looks forward to meeting and sharing her love of nature with guests from all walks of life. This is a working farm half a mile up a private gravel road. Egg collection from two separate chicken flocks happens in the late afternoon; the owner is usually busy gardening, and the dogs are active and alert when guests are coming through the main gate (the dogs are generally kept in a separate enclosure from guests, but will willingly emerge for a game of fetch if you want to meet them.) They are trained truffle hunting dogs and they provide you with fresh truffle salt! It is always a pleasure to visit with guests but privacy is treasured here as well. You are welcome to stroll through the gardens where you will find many places to sit and relax and take in nature and the different views of the garden making this a perfect place for a nature retreat. Other things to note Bullfrog Farm consists of 3 acres of various types of oak trees and hazelnuts inoculated with European Périgord truffle spores. Usually this process takes between 10-15 years to cultivate truffles and the farm is currently in year 10 so hopefully in the not too distant future we will have a success. There are 2 flocks of chickens who are responsible for weeding the orchards with the added bonus of producing beautiful free range eggs! The owner has been feeding wild birds in her garden for over 15 years. This has created a safe harbor and bird sanctuary for many species. Bullfrog Farm is now a Certified Wildlife Habitat! You can enjoy viewing many different birds while sitting in your private covered porch as well as ambling through the garden to spot different types of birds. A host of bird identification books are in your room along with binoculars. Downloading the free Merlin app will help you recognize all the different bird songs! The overall design of the garden is to provide food, habitat and water for as many species of birds and pollinators while providing a beautiful, peaceful, colorful nature setting for guests to enjoy!
