Guest access The parking area is situated just 50 meters beyond the house. To unload your luggage, kindly stop on the ROAD/GR4 in front of the house. Once you have settled in, we will provide you with detailed instructions on where to park your vehicle. Chasteuil is located 2.5km away from the D952 and can be accessed by ascending a picturesque mountain road, the C2. However, it is important to note that caravans are not permitted on this route. The road is narrow and winding, and it may be necessary to pause briefly to allow other vehicles to pass. Motorcyclists Chasteuil is situated 2.5km away from the D952 road, accessible via a small, steep mountain road known as C2. While the C2 is paved, it is narrow, winding, and often covered in gravel, making it a challenging route for larger motorbikes. However, most motorcyclists navigate this road with ease. We wanted to provide you with this information in advance to ensure a smooth and safe journey. Other things to note Welcome to Chasteuil, where Nancy and Pascal have been hosting travellers since 1995. What was once a bed and breakfast inn has now been transformed into a studio and rooms for travellers. One of the highlights of staying at Chasteuil is the opportunity to hike the GR4/Grand Randonnée #4, a scenic and important hiking trail. Grab your binoculars and head west for 2.5 hours/7.9 km towards the perched village of Rougon. Once you arrive, reward yourself with a delicious crepe at Le Mur d'Abeilles, an outdoor restaurant nestled in front of a breathtaking panoramic view of the Gorges. From your table, you can witness the magnificent flight of the Griffon vultures with a wingspan of 2.5 meters. These birds have been reintroduced to the canyon in recent years, and now there are more than 150. This year, several nests can be found above Chasteuil, and sometimes you can even hear the babies squawking like little dinosaurs. If you're up for another adventure, hike 2.5 hours/10km east towards the lovely small town of Castellane on the banks of the Verdon river. The outdoor market takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays mornings in the beautiful Place Marcel Sauvaire square – the heart of Castellane's action. It is important to note that there are no food or drink options available for purchase in Chasteuil. We recommend that you bring your own provisions, especially for the first day of your stay. Once you arrive, you will likely want to settle in and enjoy the surroundings without having to venture out for sustenance, at least for the first evening.
