Scotchland is a cozy, professionally decorated mountain house in the serene Mirror Lake neighborhood, less than two miles from boutique shopping, fine dining, and Old Edwards Inn & Spa in downtown Highlands. Hikes, waterfalls, & overlooks are all within a quick scenic drive. Cable and fast internet! Nestled high on a hill on a double lot, this 3 bed 2 bath 1900 sq ft home offers all the amenities and space you need to entertain and relax. The vaulted ceiling living room has ample seating, a large 4K flat screen smart TV with cable and Roku capabilities, built-ins and a custom stone work fireplace available for guests to use if they agree to and abide by the rules for usage. Firewood, a portioned amount of kindling, and newspaper provided. The open kitchen hosts a breakfast bar and nook with large antique church pew, and all new kitchen appliances. The dining room has a large farm table that seats eight guests comfortably and brand new sliding glass doors that open to a private open air deck with mountain views. The large screened porch overlooks the Mirror Lake area and ridge line with rocking chairs and oversized porch swing perfect for taking naps in the fresh mountain air. Turn on the white string lights at night to enjoy an evening gathering on the porch. The house sleeps six guests comfortably in Tuft and Needle mattresses. The master bedroom and second bedroom both have queen beds, and the third bedroom has two twin XL beds. All bedrooms offer some hanging and drawer storage for clothing. The first and second bedroom connect to one bathroom and the third (twin) bedroom connects to the second bathroom. For transparency for our guests, if newly renovated luxury bathrooms are a necessary part of your Highlands experience, we encourage you to consider other listings than Scotchland. Both bathrooms are fully functional. The toilets are new. The shower heads are new as well and the water pressure is fantastic. Both bathrooms have walk-in showers. The bath off the third bedroom offers a jet tub as well. The house has a 50 gallon hot water heater. **The paved driveway to this home is steep. Please review listing photos.** Guests familiar with residential stays in Highlands won’t think much of it, but those not familiar with the terrain may find it challenging. The newly paved parking pad can host 3 cars comfortably. Stacked washer and dryer available to guests for small loads of laundry. A Pack and Play is available at the home. This house is not fully childproofed, but we do have outlet plugs and cabinet child locks available for you to apply if you would like to use them. The 4K TV has Roku capabilities built in and is ready for use for Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, etc. with your subscriptions. There is cable. ***Scotchland is decorated for the holidays all of December! Consider a stay with us and enjoy Main St. all lit up and the annual holiday parade, local boutique gift shopping, and taking home a Christmas tree from a local tree farm!*** Guests can access the entire home. Mirror Lake is a quiet mountain neighborhood with beautiful views less than five minutes from downtown Highlands, NC, shopping and restaurant area. The houses are spread out from one another for quiet and privacy. It's a great area for walking and enjoying the lake. This area does not have public transportation. The roads are narrow and windy and we do not recommend walking from the house to town. However downtown Highlands is very pedestrian friendly. We do enjoy jogging in the neighborhood, but do so carefully. Guests will receive a message a few days before their stay with check-in information.
