Petite but perfectly formed The Old Toll house is a perfect base to explore Dumfries and Galloway. The Old Toll house was built in 1813 the same time as the bridge was built. It was the original Toll house used to collect the payment for people crossing between Newton Stewart and Minnigaff. The old wooden bridge and ford was replaced in 1813 John Rennie (The Elder) won the honour of the commission. Thomas Telford his competitor also submitted plans. Thank you for your booking. Other things to note The Toll House is the original Toll house for Creebridge, people wishing to cross from Newton Stewart to Minnigaff, Its ok no longer in use haha! The locals affectionately know it as “The old sweetie shop” Simpson’s ice cream and sweet shop. It is.....As pictures show right on the bridge! Traffic noise is noticeable. Double sofa-bed.
