Eco Retreat Cabana del Bosque (Forest Cabin)

We live and work on a former potato finca in the green north of the island in a high valley at 600m altitude in a dreamlike, partly terraced location overlooking the hill chain and the sea. The house is surrounded by year-round green vegetation, in trees, plants, shrubs and animals. The catering takes place independently and on TV, telephone and internet, we have dispensed within the cabana. There is a lot of nature, a wide range of books, games, walks, conversations, fresh air and tranquility. There are no electricity or transmission poles in the immediate vicinity. The power supply is provided entirely by solar energy, boiled and showered with gas. If it gets fresh in the evening, the property has a fireplace which is quickly heated. From the small main road to the house it’s a 1,6km hike and except you drive a 4x4, a small car can’t make it to the house. This means except arrival and departure you have to walk, which takes around 20-25min so please keep in mind that you have to come out a bit of your personal comfort zone and lazy or a couch potato you shouldn’t be. Also keep in mind, that we live totally off-the-grid. Our property is in the woods, which means that when the nights are warm, it is quiet and you can hear the birds & crickets, when it rains, the wind, frogs and nothing else. When it rains or storms, the forest works and lives and the wind rustles around the house. If you love “Grizzly Adams”, “Into the Wild” or Thoreau, you've come to the right place. If your heart beats for sun, beach & sea, wifi and shopping, you won't feel comfortable here and you should look for accommodation in the south of the island. As it is partly uneven and shady, it is not advisable to use a normal car to drive down the slope to the house (1.6 km). The car can be parked at the top of the road and we will pick you up with your luggage and bring you up again on the day of your Check-out. In between, we are happy if the beautiful hiking trail is also run. But there is a wonderful view and fresh air. If we have to go up in between, we ask if anyone would like to go with us. However, you have to venture out of your personal comfort zone and running mouth should you not be. Sounds adventurous and it is. It may well be cloudy and rainy in the north, with bright blue skies and the sun shining in the south at the same time.
