The rare and much sought-after Altbaus of Berlin is a joy to experience! These are the grand apartments from before the First World War with high ceilings and Flur leading to every room. The space Altbaus in Berlin is a specialty (as most were damaged or destroyed during the world wars). This ground-floor apartment (there are no stairs to climb!) is in a building that dates back to 1910. The apartment is located in Wilmersdorf (a premium west Berlin neighborhood), with easy access to public transportation through S-Bahn (41, 42, 46), U-Bahn (U3), and multiple buses. The freeway A100 is within 2 2-minute driving distance (exit of Meclenburgische Str / Detmolder Str). The area is full of local restaurants and grocery shops (Aldi and Netto are a 2-minute walk, and Bio Market is a 10-minute walk). Famous Berlin attractions are easy to reach (Ku'damm, Potsdamer Platz, and Tiergarten are at a 10-20-minute public transport distance). The apartment is characterized by high ceilings, large doors, and lots of light, as well as a classical passageway (Flür) leading to all rooms. The apartment is thoroughly modernized with a large kitchen, new parquet flooring, and a modern bathroom. The main bedroom has a king-size bed, big wardrobe, two comfortable sofa seats and ample lighting. The small bedroom has a daybed, chests of drawers and table. The cute thing about small bedroom is the hochbett! There is a ladder to climb to this hochbett and it can comfortably sleep one adult or two kids. The living room is large and is fitted with great entertainment setup (46 inch 3-D LED TV, 3D BD player, Netbook, Webcam, Wireless Keyboard, Wireless Mouse and a Yamaha Soundbar). The huge Sofa can be unfolded to create a large sofabed that can comfortably sleep two adults. This is a fully furnished apartment that can accommodate six adults (two in the main bedroom, two in the small bedroom, and two in the living room) and two kids. Please note that there is only one bathroom, so it can be the bottleneck for a larger group. As we live here occasionally, typically, the small bedroom will be available, but when we are not in Berlin, the whole apartment is available (see the calendar for dates). This listing pertains to the whole apartment! There is free phone (local), free internet (wired and wireless), free laundry (washer and dryer are in the bathroom) and free access to kitchen (all utensils, dishwasher, microwave+oven, food warmer, food processor and a large refrigerator). Cooking here can save you big money against eating out at restaurants and also get you out early in the morning to do site seeing... As this is our second home, we expect that you treat it with love and respect. Cleaning up after yourselves is expected and helps us to keep the costs down of the rentals.
