Description

It is quite impossible to describe how special this place is. You can spend days here just watching the bay change, spot a whale or the dolphins&breathe in the view Cozy and warm in winter&airy in summer its the perfect hide away all year round. Behind you is just the mountain with fantastic walking trails but the centre with all its attractions is also only 30 min away. Please note that you need to climb 180 stairs & read full description before booking to make sure this house is for you! The space The Birds nest is built as a quaint lofty cottage with high ceilings with sea views from all spaces. The living area is open plan with a dining table, corner couch and fully equipped kitchen (toaster, microwave, oven, coffee maker, kettle etc). A cast iron wood stove keeps you warm in winter. The main bedroom with a queen sized bed has french doors opening to the Veranda. The other bedroom is located above the living area and is reached by climbing up a ladder. (If you have concerns about any party climbing up a ladder to the second bedroom then please make sure the listing is for you before you book) It is partly open to the living area (no solid wall), but high enough to be private. There is one bathroom with a shower. Outside is a wonderful verandah with a patio roof Please note the following: To get to the best view in the world you will need to conquer the mountain.. this means 189 steps. Yes you read right.. While this seems a lot every single person who has made it to the top assured that it was absolutely worth it. (And besides you will work up a bum of steel and dont need to double it up in the gym when you are coming back from holiday). The house moves in the wind and between October and April is windy season, this will create some noises and vibrations but the house is built for it and is safe. We do use antique furniture and windows etc so some things may wobble, not close 100 percent or a draft may come through. If you like the rustic life with adventures you will be happy here, if you prefer the creature comforts and would prefer a newly renovated house then our house may not be for you. If you love nature and adventure then this can be your dream look out. For safety we have strong aluminium shutters on all doors and windows. The house is set in nature. That gives it the beautiful vibe bur also means that the occasional critter or visitor such as a gecko, spider, a field mouse, ants, a mongoose or a franklin or owl may pay you a visit. They know we dont tolerate them as permanent tenants though. Please also note that South Africa is currently implementing rolling blackouts called loadshedding. There is an app that announces the times of these blackouts in advance so that one can plan around them. We provide some rechargeable lights in the house and the stove is heated by gas so you can still cook We do not make recommendations about children as everyone brings up their kids differently. So please make sure by looking at the pictures and asking questions if you are concerned about the kids. The house is not specifically childproofed. We use recycled doors etc in our building and that comes with its quirks, that some of the door handles etc may be wobbly, loose or sticky. Guest access Guests have access to the whole house and there are no shared spaces. Other things to note We do not make recommendations about children as everyone brings up their kids differently. So please make sure by looking at the pictures and asking questions if you are concerned about the kids. The house is not specifically childproofed but we have a travel cot
