"L'Assolata" Cottage in Tuscany

A lovely cottage in the old farmhouse "Podere Maltaia" that overlooks the Unesco's Heritage protected area Orcia Valley, surrounded by large farmyards and 3 hectares of private land that includes an outdoor swimming pool (opened seasonally, based on outside temperature - please ask to know the dates for the upcoming or ongoing summer season), garden, outdoor dining area, BBQ and parking area (not-covered, free of charge). The space The property is an old farmhouse that was recently restructured and made into a condominium of 12 independent vacation cottages, each with private garden, entrance and services. It is located in the countryside, walking distance from the medieval hamlet of Radicofani, close to Pienza, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Bagno Vignoni and driving distance from Siena, Florence and Rome. The renovation of the estate has kept all the characteristics of the original architecture, with the creation of cottages also for weekends (3 night minimum), weeks or months. The property is 1.1Km (0.7 miles) from the downtown of Radicofani, that has 3 restaurants of typical local cuisine, grocery, bakery, butchery, pubs as well as pharmacy, post office, bank, police station and city hall. The country side location, yet walking distance from the village makes it possible to enjoy the staying without driving if you wish. From Radicofani, within 30 minutes driving can be reached the Thermal stations of San Casciano dei Bagni, or Bagno Vignoni, or San Filippo. In 45mins/1hr, the villages of Pienza, Montalcino (Brunello wine), the top of Amiata mountain (6000 feet above sea level) or the historical city of Siena. Florence, Pisa, Rome are in 2 hours driving distance hence making it possible to visit within a day or reach the airports. Guest access The cottage "L'Assolata" has 2 rooms (circa 50 sq m), on the ground floor with independent entrance from the private garden. The entrance leads to the parlor with dining area, kitchen, fireplace and sofa. The kitchen has stovetop, fridge, freezer, oven, dishwasher, gravel sink and nespresso coffee machine. The bedroom has a master bed, spacious recessed wardrobe, drawers and two other single beds, of which one is inside the bedroom, on a mezzanine. The barbeque area is outdoor, close by the swimming pool and is equipped with all the necessary. Guests will be provided with linens and towels for the bathroom, shower. Towels for the swimming pool are upon request (separate charge) Other things to note *) The availability of the pool is seasonal. Since the water is not artificially warmed up, the date from when/till the pool is open strictly depends on the weather and the external temperature. Over the 5 past years it has always been possible to open it around the end of May till middle of September. *) Included in the renting of 7 and more nights, is one complimentary usage of the laundry service (a run of washing machine and one of dryer machine). Further usages of the laundry service, as well as for rentings shorter than 7 nights, the service is charged 5 Euros. Since the washing and dryer machines are located in the garage where only Sara and Marcello have access, when you need to do the laundry, you can prepare your clothes in a bag and hand it over to Sara. She will take care of the laundry and the drying, and then return them to you. One laundry service per week is complimentary. Any further laundry service, is at the cost of 5Euro (which includes a washing and a drying) that you’ll have to arrange directly with Sara. *) At the cottage we provide a "nespresso" coffee machine, together with a complimentary set of capsules. In case you need more boxes of capsules, you can ask Sara (at the cost of 5Euro each box of 10 capsules - the pure cost from the shop). If you have a Nespresso machine at your home, you are free to bring your own favourite capsules and use them with our Nespresso machine. *) Bath/bathroom Towels. Towels will be changed after every 7 days included in the renting cost. Should you require further towel changes, or bed linens changes, or a cleaning of the whole apartment, these all need to be arranged with Sara directly and the costs are: - towels (bathroom + bath) 5Euros - bed linens 5Euros - cottage cleaning 40Euros (which it also includes the changing of all towels and bed linens) *) Beach towels for the swimming pool are available upon request at the cost of 5Euros per set **) When convenient, please do find the time to go through the "Additional Rules" listed below (among the "Policies and Rules") and feel always free to reach us or the care takers for any clarification or request.
