Description

Laurelin Retreat is 50+ magical acres in central Vermont. Bring your tent and gear, camp in our fields, woods, or mossy clearings. All year round, we have tent sites, fire pits, and portapotties, plus a seasonal outdoor hot/cold shower. No indoor facilities, tents, or gear provided. The space The camping facilities are very primitive, including only: - Dirt tenting sites with firepits. There are options to camp in the forest, in a field or on a small hilltop. There is dry firewood nearby. - A single raised wooden tent platform in the forest - Portapotties in forest and near showers - Shower (propane hot water on demand) is private but outdoors. (As in, you can see the sky if you look up). Again, it is very primitive. Depending on where you camp this can be a bit of a hike. - There are no other accommodations provided. You have to bring your own tent, tarps, sleeping bags, cooking and eating ware, etc. - There are NO waste receptacles onsite. You are expected to take all trash with you and leave the site as clean as you found it. Driving to the tent sites: There is an access road that is dirt or mud and is narrow in places. High clearance vehicles are usually okay but many people hike in and out. We like to arrange it so that we are here when you arrive so we can help choose your campsite and decide if your vehicle can handle the road. Otherwise, this is the great outdoors. There are managed walking paths, a lovely brook, plenty of trees, and several small “shrines" of standing or stacked stones. Guest access Guests will have access to the entire 50 acre camping area. Other things to note Airbnb does not have a good way to categorize outdoor campsites. We have room for 16+ people on our property, but it's all outdoors, and up to you to supply the "bedrooms" and "beds"! Please read this description carefully to see if we are the right place for you. We hope so! Facilities The camping facilities are very primitive, including only: - Cleared areas in the woods and field to pitch your tent. Some areas have fire pits and log benches. You must bring your own tent(s) and gear. - Portapotty in woods. - Outdoor shower (propane hot water on demand) in the field. Note that if if you camp in the woods, it will be a long (but beautiful) walk to the shower. The shower is turned off during freezing temperatures. - There are no waste receptacles onsite. You are expected to take all trash with you and leave the site as clean as you found it. Getting to the Camp Site From I-89 (Vermont's major highway) exit 3, it is only about a 5-minute drive to our property. We have a driveway/parking lot adjacent to our ranch house. Parking is free. It is about a 1/4 mile distance from the parking area to the tent sites. If you plan to use your vehicle to bring your gear to your tent site, be aware that the access road is dirt and narrow in places. Cars with a relatively high undercarriage clearance (like a Subaru Outback) that go slowly should be fine. Low clearance sporty vehicles run the risk of scraping. Small camping trailers might be okay but RV’s and 5th-wheel tow behind trailers won’t make it. If you pre-arrange it, we may be able to use our Polaris Ranger to bring you and your gear to and from your tent site. Please ask us ahead of time. Otherwise, this is the great outdoors. There are managed walking paths, a lovely brook, plenty of trees, and several small “shrines” of standing or stacked stones. The view of the mountains is incredible. And we can see so many stars at night! You are welcome to come and go as you please. The town of Bethel has a couple cute restaurants and shops. Plus, highway access makes it very easy to take day trips around the state. Arrival/ Departure: All arrival times must be pre-arranged so someone is onsite to check you in and orient you. We try to be flexible. Departures are by noon. You are welcome to explore our fields and woods. The house, barn, and outbuildings are off-limits. Registration Details MRT-10126712
