Awesome Piney Cove
The Piney Cove is in a peaceful setting at the edge of Pick City. Fronted by pine and evergreens, it is both very private and accessible. Lake Sakakawea and the Missouri River are just minutes from the front door. The exterior features a wraparound deck and hot tub and a large yard. The interior is completely refurbished with a light coastal appeal in tones of blue and gray and accents of driftwood. The cottage features a downstairs bar, TV, WiFi, open living space and three large bedrooms. The Piney Cove offers a wonderful way to vacation at Lake Sakakawea and the Missouri River. With room for family and friends, guests have the entire house to themselves. The cottage has two queen sized bedrooms upstairs, and an open staircase leads down to a bar and gathering room with an adjacent family style bedroom with three beds. Guests will love the soothing feel of the space with driftwood accents and artwork of water and sailing ships. Nearly the entire property at Piney Cove is available for guest use. This includes the yard, deck and hot tub. The detached garage is not for guest use. Access to the cottage is by door code. Typically the host will greet guests and then leave them to get on with enjoying the space on their own. The host will be available by cell phone or text throughout the stay. Pick City is small and friendly. There are two pubs and restaurants, a gas station and convenience store and a grocery. Across the Garrison Dam is Riverdale, built by the Army Corps of Engineers during construction of the dam back in the 40s. It hosts restaurants and pubs as well. Guests will arrive by personal vehicle but biking is a great way to get around once there if desired. There’s ample parking for several vehicles. There’s so much to do while at the Piney Cove! Garrison Dam is a structural wonder in itself. Tours of the dam works and nationally renowned fish hatchery are seasonal. Below the dam on the Missouri River there are walking trails for great birdwatching, biking, snowshoeing or cross country skiing depending on the season. River access too for fishing or strolling the sandy shoreline of the river. There’s a wildlife management area below the dam that allows for exploration of the woods with towering cottonwood trees. The dam impounds Lake Sakakawea and the state park next to Pick City has wonderful day use amenities. Bring kayaks, paddle boards, a boat or check for rental information at the cottage. Relax in the hot tub after a fun day outdoors!
