The space This traditional and also surprising house will make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. It has a large garden which is perfect for children to play or for the family to enjoy the meals outside. The Atlantic Ocean and sandy beaches are just a stone-throw away. The house is very comfortably furnished providing a cozy and familiar environment in all of its 3 floors. The ground floor consists of the entrance hall, the living-room, the dining-room (both acessing and with a view of the garden), a fully-equiped kitchen (stove, oven, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and all other equipment and tools) and 2 bathrooms. On the 1st floor there are 2 twin bedrooms, 1 double bedroom, 2 spacious bathrooms and another living-room. On the smaller 2nd floor are the 2 other bedrooms, one double and one single. All bedrooms have a view! Guest access Praia da Granja has a splendid public outdoor swimming-pool overlooking the ocean with very reasonable prices. If you appreciate long walks by the sea then you came to the perfect place. There is a scenic seaside gangway which goes all the way from Espinho (3Km to the south) to the south bank of the Douro River in Gaia (14Km to the north). If you walk 10 min north you will find Praia da Aguda, a typical fishing village where you can go for a great seafood meal or a beer while watching the sunset. In Aguda you will also find lots of commerce including the fish market, bakeries and other quality Portuguese products. The beach is perfect for a swim. Aguda is great! You are just 20 minutes away by train (or driving) from Porto, Portugal´s 2nd city. Located along the Douro river estuary in Northern Portugal, Porto is a fantastic city. It combines natural beauty, history and magnificent architecture with the friendliness of its people who are very welcoming of tourists. The food is great and so is the nightlife. If you don´t know Oporto yet you are missing out! The train station is just 150 metres away with trains to and from Oporto running twice every hour from 6am until midnight. Also within easy reach is the amazing Douro Valley, Portugal´s premier wine region. We highly recommend that you go there if you don´t know it yet. Nature shaped by man! It really is breathtaking and its wines some of the best in the world. An hour drive is all it takes to get there. Other activities include surfing with some of the best Portuguese spots nearby, golfing with a 18-hole course in Espinho and one 9-hole course in Miramar both less than a 15 min drive away. If you are feeling lucky there is a casino close-by, just a 5 minute drive away, in Espinho. On the 1st December 2018 the city tourist tax came into force in Vila Nova de Gaia. The rate applies to guests aged 16 years or older per night, up to a maximum of seven nights in a row.
