The space Located fifty minutes drive from Como, ninety minutes north of Milan, and a two hour train ride from Zurich, the picturesque & quaint village of Gerra Gambarogno is just 3 kilometers north of the Swiss/Italian border and features cobblestoned walkways, an ancient church, two welcoming beaches, a cheerful beach bar with delicious bites and cocktails, and public grilling area - all within steps of the studio. The charming tourist destinations of Ascona & Locarno are located directly across the lake and a 25 minute drive away. The local ferry ( 7 min. walk) takes you directly to Ascona every morning in 15 minutes. The famous Sunday Italian market in Cannobio can be reached by either a 50 minute drive around the top of the lake or by ferry from our neighboring town of Maccagno, Italy (15 min. drive). Nearby services also include a train station, bus stop, ferry to Ascona & other neighboring towns, and small local grocery store (all less than 2 minutes walk from the studio). A variety of dining options can be found in neighboring villages, some in the local region and others just down the road in Italy (the Italian border is just 2 kilometers from Gerra). With Lago Maggiore right at your fingertips, you can easily spend your days paddling, swimming, enjoying the ferry services (ferry stop located in the village, 7 min. walk), sightseeing in Ticino or simply dozing and reading on the beach. If you are a fan of more active pursuits, there are endless mountain trails for hiking in every direction and the main road along the perimeter of Lago Maggiore is a favorite for cyclists of all levels. This charming private studio is beautifully furnished, 'small but sweet', offers numerous amenities and is located on the upper portion of the property host’s garage, where natural light and a comfortable floor plan create a cozy and welcoming environment. An entire wall of French windows offers spectacular south-facing views of the lake and mountains. The covered balcony features a dining corner and two comfy deck chairs for balcony lounging. At about 25 square meters, the cleverly designed studio offers a cozy seating area with views of the lake, fully stocked kitchenette with dining bar, and comfortably outfitted queen-sized bed. All linens, towels (including extra towels for your beach use) and hi-quality toiletries are included. The bathroom offers a walk-in shower. A mini- fridge is available to keep beverages and essentials nice and cool. Paid public parking is available in the immediate area. It is recommended that our guests download and apply for the Swiss parking payment app called Parkingpay. *NOTE* Please note that the obligatory Ticino Tourism Tax of CHF 3.25/adult/day is not included in the nightly rate is kindly requested to be collected after arrival. There is a childrens' playground adjacent to the studio as well as the local beach bar, but aside from the sound of children playing and some normal-volume radio music & conversation it is a very tranquil space. The nearest active ferry landing is located in the neighboring village of San Nazzaro which is a 3 minute drive, 5 minute bus trip and a 20 minute walk from Gerra Gambarogno.
